A police officer in New York City stopped Smith’s SUV in 2007 for possessing an outdated registration sticker, just one of Smith’s many brushes with the law. Two marijuana cigarettes and a bag of the drug were discovered by the police officer, with additional marijuana stashed away in the car’s glove compartment and under the driver’s seat.
He was arrested for driving under the influence, driving with an expired registration and two counts of criminal possession of marijuana. Under the terms of his plea deal, he had to educate young people about the perils of drug use through rapping.
In October 2009, police came to Method Man’s house on Staten Island and arrested him on tax evasion charges.
