Black Panther 2 Script: In Ryan Coogler’s first draft of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” sadness was present. As tragic as the untimely passing of actor Chadwick Boseman was, the focus was on the five years that King T’Challah had lost.
Coogler remarked in an interview with Inverse, “The tone shift, I will say, was less of a shift than in [casting].
Coogler imagined Bosman, had he been alive to reprise his role as the Black Panther after T’Challah disappeared after “The Blip” brought upon half the population of the world by Thanos.
After Boseman’s passing, the script for “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” was reworked, and Feige said there would be no recasting of the character because it was too soon. Coogler and co-writer Joe Robert Cole rethought the film’s premise and main character. Namor, the Sub-Mariner (Tenoch Huerta) continued to play a negative role.
Due to Chadwick Boseman’s passing, the film’s final version opens with T’Challa’s death, which motivates the people of Wakanda, including T’Challa’s mother Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett) and his brilliant scientist sister Shuri (Letitia Wright), to continue their mission of safeguarding the country’s supply of vibranium.

Coogler said, “who the protagonist was, the protagonist’s flaws, and the protagonist’s journey.” Because of our loss of him and the choices we made about the future, everything had to change.
The events of Avengers: Endgame served as the inspiration for the Black Panther 2 Script
The plot of the Black Panther sequel was originally going to revolve around the events of Avengers: Endgame before the death of Chadwick Boseman forced the film’s writers to rewrite the script.
Ryan Coogler, director and screenwriter of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, told Inverse that while the story has changed since Boseman’s death, the film was always going to be about grief because it would have dealt with the fallout of Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, which focused on Thanos’ plan to eliminate half of all life using the Infinity Stones.

Though the upcoming film will focus on T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) mourning his death (in Infinity War) and subsequent resurrection (in Endgame), the script originally lamented the five years that were lost. You can also read about Black Panther: Wakanda Forever cast who is going to return?
Coogler tells, “the tone was going to be similar.” Since he or she would be returning after five years away, “the character was going to be lamenting the passage of time. The film dealt with the themes of duty and returning to one’s family and community after an involuntary absence of five years. He was lamenting the loss of precious minutes. Anguish played a significant role.
Coogler and co-writer Joe Robert Cole rewrote the film after the loss of Chadwick Boseman to focus on different characters, albeit Namor the Sub-Mariner was always intended to be the antagonist. Tenoch Huerta portrays Namor in Wakanda Forever.
As a result of his death and the team’s subsequent actions, “everything about the protagonist had to be altered,” says director Ryan Coogler.
Released on November 11, Black Panther 2 features the return of original cast members Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Winston Duke and Angela Bassett. Huerta is a new addition to the cast as Namor, and Dominique Thorne plays Riri Williams/Ironheart.
