Here you will read details relating to the match of Astros vs. Phillies. Due to Monday’s postponement in Philadelphia, the rest of the 2022 World Series itinerary has been altered.

The 2022 World Series between the Houston Astros and the Philadelphia Phillies will continue the next day. MLB made the announcement Monday night just an hour before Game 3 of the Fall Classic was scheduled to begin, that the game would be postponed due to rain.

The game has been rescheduled to be played on Tuesday and the rest of the series has been postponed as well. Games 5 and 6 if necessary would be played on consecutive days, but there would still be a day of rest in between.

The revised schedule for the Astros vs. Phillies in the 2022 World Series is as follows:

As of Monday, this is the first postponement of the Fall Classic since Game 6 of the 2011 World Series.

There was light rain at Citizens Bank Park at 6 p.m. ET, and it’s expected to get heavier at 9 p.m. ET and last until early Tuesday morning. The Astros and the Phillies may be able to start Game 3 as planned under the current weather conditions but if the rain becomes more severe later in the evening the game will likely be postponed. In the playoffs, MLB determines all decisions related to weather and whenever possible a full nine innings are played.

In case you were wondering what the hourly forecast for Monday night was here it is courtesy of CBS News Philadelphia:

On Tuesday, when the World Series is finally set to commence, left-handers Ranger Suárez (10-7, 3.65) of the Philadelphia Phillies and Lance McCullers Jr. (4-2, 2.23) of the Houston Astros are slated to take the mound.

Interestingly, Philadelphia hosted the World Series when the weather caused the most controversy in Major League Baseball history. Because of rain play in Game 5 of the 2008 World Series was called in the sixth inning. In the previous inning, the Rays played through a deluge to tie the score at 2. Then-Commissioner Bud Selig mandated that from then on, every game in the World Series would go the full nine innings.

Selig said to the Associated Press, “I was not going to allow that to happen” when questioned about the likelihood of a rain-shortened World Series. “I have to make a call on this. A rain delay would have occurred until the weather improved enough for us to resume the game. As for how long that lasted, it could have been 24 or 48 hours.”

The Phillies went on to win their first World Series since 1980 thanks to an RBI single by Pedro Feliz in the seventh inning of Game 5.
