Age of Mythology, a fantasy spin-off of the Age of Empires series released in 2002, is receiving a revised, definitive edition after years of fan demand. As part of the 25th-anniversary stream, Xbox and World’s Edge have revealed that the remastered edition of Age of Mythology: Retold will be playable on PC and PC Game Pass.
World’s Edge is presently devoting its focus to previous games in the Age of Empires series rather than building new entries, and Age of Mythology is the next to get the remaster treatment. Age of Mythology has not yet been given a firm release date.
An official trailer for the remastered version of World’s Edge’s 2002 classic, whose fantasy theme was inspired by Greek, Egyptian and Norse mythology, was released by the studio. But the team isn’t quite ready to show off any gameplay just yet.
If the classic RTS Age of Mythology: Retold is given the same treatment as Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition, we may presume that it will have additional content, gameplay enhancements, and enhanced visuals.
Here, the developers promised improved visuals and playability in the remastered edition. People who enjoy the Age of Mythology have probably been yearning for a Definitive Edition, and we want to give it to them. Michael Mann, head of World’s Edge Studio, posted on the Xbox Wire.
An extended edition of the remastered Age of Mythology was released with Steamworks integration and improved features. Released in 2002 as a mythical spin-off of the popular RTS series, the classic game has been updated with multiple expansions, the most recent of which adds Atlantians and Chinese as playable civilizations.
Age of Mythology stands out from the other AOE games since it is based on fantastical stories rather than real-world events. Gameplay with mythological deities like Thor, Zeus, Ra and Poseidon as campaign protagonists is promised for a significant length of time.
Building, resource management, diplomacy, and the formation of armies are all areas where players would like to see substantial changes that might have an impact on the game itself. Age of Mythology: Retold details will be released at a later time. According to World’s Edge, Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition and Age of Empires 4 will be released for Xbox One in 2019.
