Production on the seventh and final season of The CW’s drama series Riverdale has officially begun. An update was posted on Instagram by co-executive producer and writer Ted Sullivan. In the opening shot of the new season, which is shown in the post in its entirety, the slate serves as the primary subject. Sullivan wrote, “such a terrific season is heading shortly to fans,” as a caption. He also extended his gratitude to Riverdale’s creator, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.
Riverdale Season 6 ended on a shocking cliffhanger. The season’s antagonist, Percival Pickens (Chris O’Shea), was dispatched in the final two episodes when the gang sent him back in time to where he belonged. Sadly, Percival dealt one final blow by redirecting a comet to smash into Riverdale.
The community was sent to the 1950s after Cheryl’s (Madelaine Petsch) enhanced abilities allowed her to halt the comet. Jughead (Cole Sprouse) is the sole resident of Riverdale who remembers what happened before the town was struck with amnesia.
More information on the upcoming season’s plot is likely to be released closer to the season premiere, but for now, it’s still mostly under wraps. But we know the time jump will play a major role in the season. The opening episode, as previously announced by Aguirre-Sacasa, would be named “Don’t Worry, Darling,” a nod to a film from the same era that was popular at the time.
The first season of Riverdale began in 2017, and it followed the aftermath of a murder that had left the town in disarray. When we first meet our main protagonists, they are all senior year of high school and coping with very standard issues for their age group.

The show, however, was never afraid to explore the most disturbing aspects of its subject matter. Viewers and non-viewers alike started to recognize the show for its outlandish storylines, which included a wicked Dungeons & Dragons-style game, an organ-harvesting cult, annual musical episodes, another world called “Rivervale,” and much more as time went on.
Still, it must be said that the series has persevered to the point where it has aired over 115 episodes and is still going strong as it enters its final season. The cast of Riverdale includes Petsch, Sprouse, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, K.J. Apa, Casey Cott, Vanessa Morgan, Erinn Westbrook, Charles Melton, Mädchen Amick, and Drew Ray Tanner, among others.
The premiere episode of Season 7 was written by Aguirre-Sacasa and Danielle Iman and directed by Ronald Paul Richard.
The release date for Riverdale Season 7 has not been set, however, it is likely to occur around the middle of the year 2023. Before then, you may watch Seasons 1 through 6 on Netflix right now. Read the whole of Sullivan’s article down below:
