Despite the popularity of Creed, Rocky Balboa’s legacy has continued to flourish. Instead, Adonis’s reputation stands on its own in the third part of the spin-off film series. The new teaser from MGM and United Artists features Michael B. Jordan’s “Donnie” Creed, who returns to the big screen but this time faces off against Jonathan Majors in the boxing ring.
At the beginning of the trailer, Creed is unquestionably successful: “I spent the previous seven years of my life living out my wildest ambitions.”
His wife, Bianca (Tessa Thompson), who has found success in the music industry on her own and his daughter, Amara (Mila Davis-Kent), are shown cheering him on as he watches flashes of his past, including being on the cover of Forbes and winning fights. “Bianca. Rocky. My dad. Creed says, “I stood on their shoulders. ” in the first trailer for the upcoming film.
Not long after, we learn that Major’s Dame is related to the title boxer we’ve seen; Dame has spent the previous 18 years in prison and Creed met him when they were both kids. Since he was present at his arrest as well, it’s clear that their relationship goes beyond casual friendship.
Both Major and Donnie boxed as children, with Major asserting that he “was always better” than Donnie. Major’s protagonist begins to emerge at this time. At first, things seem fine between them and Creed even offers to assist Dame. In any case, the situation gets worse.

A liberated Dame is heard screaming, “Imagine spending half your life in a jail watching somebody else live their life!” in the trailer. Creed then gets the message that he’s “coming for everything” from him.
Attempts are made on his behalf, for sure. The trailer, as you might expect, builds up to a training scene and eventually a fight in the ring; this is the staple of the franchise since viewers can’t get enough of it.
The absence of Sylvester Stallone is one notable change, but the arrival of Michael B. Jordan as a director is another. According to Jordan, this is something he’s always wanted to do, but it wasn’t until ‘Creed’ director Ryan Coogler told him to “jump in the deep end and go for it” that he really did it.
At this point in my career, I realized that I wanted to act as a storyteller rather than merely a face in the audience or a puppet for someone else’s direction.
He told reporters at a worldwide news conference, “Having a character who I’ve portrayed twice before — it’s been seven, eight years living with this person — so to be able to convey the story of where I believe Adonis is at.” At the age of 35, “I had a lot to say as a young Black man, just from my life experiences and how I could truly share a bit of myself with the world via these characters and through the story,” he says.
The story’s protagonist is the central figure and the power behind any good hero story. The ‘Rocky’ and Creed franchises have given us some formidable adversaries, like Ivan Drago and his son, Clubber Lang and ‘Pretty’ Ricky Conlan. However, the inclusion of Dame in “Creed III” revives the series’ signature intense rivalry.
Both within and outside of the ring, the film explores how Major’s character serves as a lynchpin in Adonis’ life, as stated by Jordan himself.
In Jordan’s words, “having that running mate and that scene partner made all the difference in the world” for him as a filmmaker. Every day, more and more people learn about this man and his tremendous efforts. The recognition it deserves has at last arrived. And Jonathan was fantastic; he always came prepared for the day. Creed III is the third film in a franchise that has earned $377 million around the world. It’s the eighth film in the “Rocky” franchise. On March 3, 2023, the movie will premiere in theatres.
