Time for Cobra Kai to finally leave the San Fernando Valley in season 6! In season 5 of Cobra Kai, Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) reunited with his adversaries from the Karate Kid films, Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), Chozen Toguchi (Yuji Okumoto), and Mike Barnes (Sean Kanan), to foil Terry Silver’s (Thomas Ian Griffith) expansion ambitions for Cobra Kai.
However, Silver’s capture of the Valley was swift and only the beginning of his strategy. The supervillain with the ponytail’s true goal was to export Cobra Kai, setting the stage for the series’ eventual departure from Silicon Valley.
The Sekai Taikai, a prestigious international karate event, was retconned as Terry Silver’s genuine objective for the black and red snake dojo in season 5 of Cobra Kai. Despite the fact that Cobra Kai, Miyagi-Do, and Eagle Fang Karate have all met the requirements to compete in the Sekai Taikai, the competition won’t take place until at least Cobra Kai season 6.
Although Daniel, his friends, and their opponents spent the first five seasons of Cobra Kai fighting for the soul of the San Fernando Valley, the events of the fifth season’s Sekai Taikai laid the stage for the show’s world to expand significantly. By sending their students to the Sekai Taikai, Senseis LaRusso and Lawrence will be giving them a chance to travel beyond the bounds of Los Angeles.
The moment has come for this to happen since the members of Cobra Kai, most notably Samantha LaRusso (Mary Mouser), Eli “Hawk” Moskowitz (Jacob Bertrand), and Tory Nichols, need to broaden their horizons (Peyton List).

Some of the Cast of Cobra Kai left Valley
Even before Daniel and Mr. Miyagi (Noriyuki “Pat” Morita) went to Okinawa in the summer of 1985 for the events of The Karate Kid Part II, international travel was ingrained in the Cobra Kai ethos. Since then, Daniel has visited Okinawa only once, during the third season of Cobra Kai, to see Kumiko (Tamlyn Tomita), an ex-girlfriend, and Chozen.
No one from the Valley left until Miguel Diaz (Xolo Mariduea) went to Mexico to find his birth father, though we saw young Kreese (Barrett Carnahan) and young Terry Silver (Nick Marini) in Vietnam and South Korea in flashbacks on Cobra Kai, and Yasmine (Annalisa Cochrane) spent the summer of Cobra Kai season 2 in France. Additionally, Johnny and Robby Keene (Tanner Buchanan) travel to Mexico to bring Miguel back to the United States.
Mr. Miyagi flew to Boston to visit Julie Pierce (Hilary Swank) in The Next Karate Kid, and John Kreese (Martin Kove) traveled to Tahiti in The Karate Kid Part III, but it is still unusual for members of Cobra Kai to venture outside of the Valley.
While Amanda LaRusso (Courtney Henggeler) was away from Daniel for a short time in Season 5 of Cobra Kai, she took her two sons, Sam (Jake Thomas) and Anthony (Griffin Santopietro), to Ohio to visit Amanda’s cousin Jessica Andrews (Robyn Lively). For the fourth season of Cobra Kai, Sam also paid a visit to Aisha Robinson (Nichole Brown) in Santa Barbara. However, most of the people in Cobra Kai have always lived in the Valley.
Season 5 of Cobra Kai gave us all the right excuses to get out of the Valley
The formation of the Sekai Taikai is indicative of Cobra Kai’s plans to expand internationally. It’s not entirely clear where the Sekai Taikai takes place, however, it could be in Germany as Gunther Braun (Carsten Nrgaard) is from there. This provides a convenient excuse to get many of the characters off to a foreign land.
Filming in Atlanta and Los Angeles and then using Hollywood magic to make it look like they’re somewhere else will still provide the Cobra Kai cast and crew air miles in the show’s fictional universe. It would be even more awesome if Cobra Kai was shot in a foreign location, complete with its own unique landscapes and cultures.
For this reason, it is necessary to visit South Korea, the original location of Cobra Kai and the place where Master Kim Da-Eun (Alicia Hannah-Kim) first taught the Way of the Fist.
Cobra Kai’s teens are at the point in their high school careers where they should be considering colleges. Cobra Kai members tend to lose sight of their academic pursuits in the chaos of their constant karate battles. Most of the other youngsters aren’t likely to go to college, but Sam, Miguel, Hawk, and Demetri (Gianni Decenzo) could.
