Julia Haart has lost her bid to prove that her estranged husband abused her, a court has ruled. The star of the Netflix reality show “My Unorthodox Life,” who is married to Italian billionaire Silvio Scaglia, fought to get an order of protection against him soon after she filed for divorce from him in February.
The 51-year-old, who is getting a bitter divorce from Scaglia, said that he had left her crying in fear at their $65 million Tribeca apartment and had been rude to her children and used anti-Semitic slurs.
But Judge Douglas Hoffman of the Supreme Court of the State of New York ruled this week, “There was no fear shown by either party and no intimidation, especially not of Wife.
Even so, Judge Hoffman has said that Haart can “exclusively use” the couple’s penthouse for the time being.
Michael F. Beyda, Haart’s lawyer, told Page Six, “Silvio telling the press that he would kill Julia was not enough to get a criminal restraining order. But Judge Hoffman did give Ms. Haart what she asked for, which was the right to exclusive use and occupancy.
Page Six saw the ruling, which said, “The court does not find that Mr. Scaglia had physical or emotional control over Ms. Each side argued with the other strongly and well, and there was no convincing evidence of physical or emotional intimidation.”
He went on to say, “Even though the conversation got heated, there was no proof that either spouse had physical, emotional, or mental control over the other that would be considered a family offense.”

Page Six reported in February that Haart said Scaglia, who is 63 years old, had threatened to kill her. She asked a court to stop her ex-husband from coming near her or getting in touch with her. She said he was hostile toward her son’s Judaism and told her, “I will kill you in the public eye.” She asked for the order the day after she was fired from her job as CEO of Elite World Group, which she said she and Scaglia owned together.
“Respondent has become more volatile, abusive, and out of control,” the document said.
Haart wrote in the petition that she was “afraid for my safety and the safety of my children, some of whom live with me,” and that “over the past few weeks, Respondent [Scaglia] has become more volatile, abusive, and out of control.” In the petition, her daughter Miriam Haart said that in January 2021, she found her mother “crying hysterically” in the bathroom and heard Scaglia yelling at her.
“I was worried about her safety and almost called the police. I was afraid he would hurt her… I ran into the room and saw my mother crying on the bathroom floor, naked and curled up.
But after hearing testimony from Julia and Scaglia as well as Miriam, reading pages of WhatsApp messages between the two, and listening to recordings and voice messages, Judge Hoffman found the abuse claims to be false and Miriam’s testimony to be “not credible.”
“During her testimony, the daughter said that her Husband made it clear that he hated the kids and didn’t want anything to do with them soon after the couple got married. The messages sent on WhatsApp during the relevant period directly contradict this testimony. The messages are full of love and affection from both sides,” the filing said.
The judge decided that Julia filed her petition and made her accusations public because she didn’t like being fired and wanted to live alone in the penthouse where she and her ex-husband had lived.
He also said that Scaglia “accurately points out that Wife’s family offense claims changed in a meaningful way from pleading to pleading and affidavit to an affidavit,” and that her claims in her family offense petition were “simply false both substantively and temporally.”
In the filing, it did say, “The court had serious doubts about the credibility of each side, to different degrees.” The court also said that Julia “was a strong, independent, forceful person who showed no fear of Husband and who dominated the conversation/argument with Husband.”
Scaglia’s attorney, Robert Wallack, told Page Six, “This is a resounding and complete win for Silvio Scaglia. “The Court didn’t believe any of Julia Haart‘s false claims of abuse, and neither she nor her daughter Miriam was found to be credible.”
In July, the apartment of the couple was put up for rent for $125,000 a month. Beyda added, “We are very happy that the judge granted Ms. Haart’s request to have full use of her home, which she sometimes shares with her helpful children.”
