Bayonetta 3

Bayonetta 3

Bayonetta 3 is coming, and it looks like it will be one of the most popular games for the Switch in 2022. PlatinumGames has been working on Bayonetta’s return for a long time. It was first announced in 2017! The new action-adventure game is coming out in October, which is excellent, and we’ve been learning more and more about it over the past few months.

Thanks to a new rating, we now know more about the story. The Witch is going to fight enemies called Homunculi in fantasy settings. From what we’ve seen of Bayonetta in action in some gameplay clips, it looks like the famous series will be back in a big way. Here’s what we know about Bayonetta 3: trailers, story details, and more.

Bayonetta 3 Release Date

October 28, 2022, the release date for Bayonetta 3 has been confirmed by Nintendo. On July 13, the news was made public, and a long-awaited new look at the game in action was also shown. The release date for Bayonetta 3 was first announced in September 2021 by Nintendo Direct. The October 28 date makes the action game from PlatinumGames one of the most anticipated Switch games of the year.

Bayonetta 3 Platforms

Bayonetta 3 can only be played on the Nintendo Switch. Since the game is being made by PlatinumGames and published by Nintendo, it won’t be coming out on other platforms like PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. The same was true for Bayonetta 2, which was released by Nintendo on the Wii U and then the Nintendo Switch in 2014. The first Bayonetta game came out in 2009 and was published by Sega.

Bayonetta 3 Teaser Trailer

The Game Awards 2017 showed the first Bayonetta 3 teaser trailer, which proved that the game was still being made three years after Bayonetta 2 came out. Even though this Bayonetta 3 trailer doesn’t show any gameplay, it does set the tone for the kind of crazy, high-octane action we can expect from the PlatinumGames sequel.

During a Nintendo Direct show in September 2021, we saw Bayonetta 3 in action. In it, PlatinumGames gave us our first look at the Nintendo Switch-only game in action and teased new features like the Demon Slave, which lets you control Infernal Demons in the middle of battle. See how Bayonetta 3 is played in the video above.

Bayonetta 3 gameplay

The gameplay of Bayonetta 3 will build on the systems and mechanics of Bayonetta 2, which came out in 2014. Bayonetta 2 was a fast-paced action-adventure game that was loved for its spectacular combat. The Bayonetta 3 gameplay has only been shown to us briefly by developer PlatinumGames, but we have been able to pick apart the trailers to learn a few new things.

For example, we know that fan-favorite gameplay elements like Witch Time, Torture Attacks, and Wicked Weaves will be back, but in a bigger way. For example, Bayonetta can use multiple Torture Attacks at once to make them more powerful. We also know that Bayonetta will get a few new moves, like Demon Masquerade, which lets the Witch temporarily take the form of a demon, and Demon Slave, which builds on the idea of Climax Summons by letting you take control of demons and do a lot of annoying things with them.

If you are interested in playing games or reading about them then we have handpicked the three best games for you: Overwatch 2, Assassin Creed Valhalla and Mario + Rabbids.

Bayonetta 3 Story

PlatinumGames hasn’t said much about Bayonetta 3’s story, but there are rumors about what the charming witch will do in her next adventure. On the official website for Bayonetta 3, the plot is described in broad strokes: “Strange creatures that don’t look like angels or demons attack the streets of Tokyo’s Shibuya neighborhood, where Bayonetta then makes a graceful entrance. What’s her deal with Tokyo? And how far does this new enemy’s attack reach?”

Bayonetta 3

More recently, a Bayonetta 3 rating from an Australian classification board (opens in new tab) seems to have revealed some further plot details. It says, “Bayonetta 3 is an action-adventure game in which human characters travel through a series of fantasy environments, fighting monsters called Homunculi and an evil being called Singularity.” “Players must get to an island called Thule to stop Singularity from destroying all the known worlds.”

Bayonetta 3 Development

Bayonetta 3 is the third game in the Bayonetta series by PlatinumGames. The first game in the series came out in 2009. The game was made by Hideki Kamiya, and it looks like his other work, like the Devil May Cry series. It’s a hack-and-slash game set in a world where angels called Lumen Sages and Umbra Witches are at odds with each other. Bayonetta is a witch who doesn’t remember who she is. She fights through hordes of enemies to save the world, and she meets many cute side characters along the way.

In 2014, Bayonetta 2 for the Wii U was a sequel to the first game. It made the combat even more fun, added some mythological gods, and helped the game gain even more fans with its stylish art direction and deep characters. Bayonetta has been waiting in the shadows for a big return ever since. The first two games were ported to the Nintendo Switch in February 2018, and a remastered port of Bayonetta came out on PS4 and Xbox One in February 2020. This is a great time to get into the series and catch up on the story.

Bayonetta 3 was officially announced in 2017 and confirmed that it would only be available on the Nintendo Switch in 2019. The first gameplay trailer came out in 2021. Since then, PlatinumGames hasn’t talked much to the public about the game. The last big news about the game came from executive producer Hideki Kamiya shortly after the gameplay trailer came out. He said:

“Bayonetta 3 is real, and the day will come when you can play it in your hands. Rest easy and stay tuned for more information because I promise that no matter how high your hopes are, we’ll give you an experience that’s even better.”
