Assassin’s Creed Valhalla seemed endless. After the continents have been submerged and the sun has gone dark, Eivor will still be able to locate new towns to plunder and new cosmetics to experiment with. But Ubisoft has just confirmed the unthinkable: the end of Valhalla will be included in the next free DLC.
The upcoming patch, titled “The Last Chapter,” will have Eivor meeting new historical people and wrapping up any loose ends from earlier in the game. Ubisoft didn’t reveal much else, but it appears to be a triumphant return to the Viking’s homeland and will be less eventful than the previous DLC adventures.
Released in the fall of 2020 alongside the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla is the third game in the series open-world RPG era. Players experience ninth-century England through the eyes of Eivor, a Viking leader who has brought her people to a new and unfamiliar land after fleeing trauma and tragedy at home.
It combines elements from The Witcher 3 with traditional Assassin’s Creed gameplay to create the best Assassin’s Creed game in a long time. One of the best things about the game is the open universe.

Ubisoft, however, was not pleased with the status quo. Instead, Valhalla received the same extensive post-launch live service that the company has been rolling out to all of its recent games. Includes paid DLC story extensions that take players to Ireland and France, a brand new mode inspired by roguelikes, and mini-DLC packs full of new items and cross-over cosmetics. The ambitious DLC, Dawn of Ragnarok, focused even more on the game’s high fantasy elements.
Seasonal content updates have been going strong for years, but they appear to be tapering down now. For my part, I’m glad to hear this. My anxiety has always been heightened by games that keep growing, like Valhalla.
It’s typical for me to wait until all of the post-launch content has been released before revisiting. It appears that this upcoming winter will provide me with the opportunity to return to Valhalla’s super deluxe complete edition and finish refining every last new icon on its enormous map.
