In 2022 many states either enjoyed a budget surplus or received COVID relief funds for their needs. Many taxpayers might look forward to receiving lump sums via direct deposit in time for the holidays. We are talking about the December holidays already, when the first pumpkin spice hits store shelves, it’s time.
How many people are anticipating an unexpected tax return? Please let me know the cost. Also, when can you expect it to arrive? Take a look at the list below to see if your state is one of those that will be receiving stimulus money, tax refunds or other forms of assistance in September of 2022.
Hawaii
On September 9, 2022 residents of the Aloha State get an individual tax refund by direct transfer. In households with yearly incomes of less than $100,000, each member will receive $300, while those with incomes of over $100,000 will each receive $100.
Illinois
According to CNET, beginning next week Illinois residents may be eligible for tax rebates of up to $400. Any individual whose 2021 income was less than $200,000 or any married couple whose income was less than $400,000 would receive $100, plus another $100 for each dependant, for a maximum of $400.
California
Inflation aid checks for Californians will not be paid out until October, so they will have to wait a little longer. Depending on their income and the number of people in their family, state residents receive either a debit card or a direct transfer from the state government.
Named the “Middle Class Tax Refund,” these payouts may reach $1,050 per household. You may expect your refund to be determined once you file your taxes in 2020, KTLA reports.
Colorado
According to the Tax Division of the Department of Revenue, individuals are receiving $750 in refunds and married couples are receiving $1,500 according to the state’s Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights. For those who haven’t gotten their checks since they were issued in August, the number to call is 303-951-4996.
Indiana
According to a report on Indystar.com, higher-than-anticipated state revenue estimates will result in a $325 rebate for each Indiana taxpayer. Those who requested a refund direct deposit should have gotten it already. It was planned to send out a batch of checks in August, but supply chain concerns caused a delay. CNET reports that the state will mail out 1.7 million checks between now and the end of October.
Massachusetts
The state auditor of Massachusetts has not yet determined how much of the revenue surplus would be returned to taxpayers. By September 20th, 2022, the accountant will reveal the total. Governor Charlie Baker has speculated that the excess could be “north of $2.5 billion,” as reported by WGBH. Individuals may receive hundreds of dollars or more in refunds this fall depending on their income.
New Jersey
Rental and ownership property owners in New Jersey may be eligible for rebates on their property taxes. A $1,500 tax credit will be given to homeowners with annual incomes of up to $150,000. According to CNET.com, a reimbursement of $1,000 will be given to those with incomes between $150,000 and $250,000. People who pay rent and have annual incomes of $150,000 or less will each receive a $450 cheque.
The good news is that. The bad news is that it will take some time for the funds to reach the citizens of New Jersey. Jennifer Sciortino, a New Jersey’s state treasury representative, told Patch that the payments would be issued “no later than May 2023.”
New York
Property tax reimbursements will be up to $150 for people living in Manhattan and the other boroughs of New York City. A rebate on their primary property is available to owners of one-, two-, or three-family homes whose annual income is less than $250,000 in 2020.
The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance states that homeowners in other sections of the state who are eligible for a STAR credit or exemption in 2022 and whose income was $250,000 or less in the 2020 tax year may qualify for a tax rebate. The amounts vary, but you can expect checks starting in late August.
Pennsylvania
Income-eligible Pennsylvania residents aged 65 or older, 50 or older, widowed, or 18 or older, and disabled may get a tax rebate through the state’s Property Tax / Rent Rebate Program. Residents of Pennsylvania can get anywhere from $250 up to $650. The application deadline for locals is December 31, 2022.
Those who have already received a rebate from the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue may be eligible for a one-time bonus this fall in the form of a check or direct transfer.
