Details about the Rick and Morty Show
American animators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon teamed up to make the science fiction comedy series Rick and Morty, which airs on Cartoon Network at night on the channel known as Adult Swim. The sitcom depicts the home and extraterrestrial adventures of sarcastic mad scientist Rick Sanchez and his good-hearted but anxious grandson Morty Smith.
Roiland provides the voices for the title characters while Chris Parnell, Spencer Grammer and Sarah Chalke provide the voices for the rest of the family. The show was inspired by Harmon’s cofounding of the short-film festival Channel 101, where Roiland premiered an animated spoof of Back to the Future.
Critics have praised the show since its premiere for its fresh ideas, clever humor and overall high quality. The Primetime Emmys honored two of their episodes as the best-animated shows of the year.
There were 10 episodes in the fifth season, which debuted on June 20, 2021. As part of a multiyear agreement reached in May 2018, 70 further episodes were ordered for an indefinite number of seasons and the sixth season broadcasted on September 4, 2022.
