The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is an action-adventure drama TV series adapted from J. R. R. Tolkien’s novel named The Lord of the Rings and its appendices. J. D. Payne and Patrick McKay created the series for streaming giant Prime Video.
Back in November 2017, Amazon spent 250 million US dollar to acquire the TV rights for The Lord of the Rings and made a commitment of producing five seasons worth a minimum of 1 billion US dollar making it the highest expensive TV series ever developed. It is set in the Second Age of Middle-earth thousands of years ago in Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Release Date
The series was released on September 1, 2022 with a total of 8 episodes on Prime Video. Filming for the first season was done from February 2020 to August 2021 in New Zealand whereas filming for the second season is slated to begin next month in the United Kingdom.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: Storyline
The series is set thousands of years prior to The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings’ events. It stars around a time of relative peace and is covered with all the significant happenings of Middle-earth’s Second Age: the distortion of the Rings of Power, the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron the fall of the island kingdom of Númenor and the last alliance between Elves and Men.
All of these happen more than thousands of years in Tolkien’s original tales though these are reduced for the series.
