Lee Pace, from Guardians of the Galaxy, Pushing Daisies and The Hobbit announce his sexuality which is a most surprising sign to his fans. Lee stated that he is gay but also straight because he can date both men and women.
He doesn’t like to be stamped as gay. His upcoming movie is Angles of America. He said in an interview with W magazine “Our understanding of what it means to be gay is just so different.” He began his career with The Normal Heart, which is based on the LGBTQ community.
“It’s culturally different. It’s just so much further down the road. It’s an interesting thing for me to think about at this moment while working on this play,” he added.
Pace thought that if a person especially an actor is gay, then he must have played a role of a gay in his movies without feeling forward. “I’ve dated men. I’ve dated women,” Pace said, disciding his sexuality.
“I don’t know why anyone would care,” he said. “I’m an actor and I play roles. To be honest, I don’t know what to say — I find your question intrusive.”
“Who cares about people’s personal lives? I mean, honestly. How are you then able to disappear into a role? Trust me, if I had something interesting to say about myself, I would,” Pace stated to Buzzfeed in May 2014.
“To be honest, the characters I play are revealing enough,” he said.
Lee Pace Statement About His Sexuality
Lee always “felt very safe” for being gay and raised in an LGBTQ community. He stated that “We’re not all so lucky to get the free pass in life.” He felt more confident after being characterized as Joe Pitt in Angels in America made him understand better about the queer groups.
“I’ve always felt very safe, you know?” he said Variety. “I was in the drama department in high school. I went to Julliard. I’ve been playing queer characters. In the first movie, I played a trans character.”
“I’ve never felt the danger of that, you know? So, to walk in the shoes of someone who, that danger is so real that he can’t utter it, taught me something about myself and about my community… We’re not all so lucky to get the free pass in life.”
Pushing Daisies ABC drama is one of the best series for which he won a Golden Globe and Emmy in 2009. He also said somewhere that he and Bryan Fuller thinks about a reunite and “Whenever we see each other, we’re like, ‘Oh, God, wouldn’t it be great to get the gang back together and do something?’” he revealed. “I think he’s got a really fun idea for the story.”
Lee opened up her sexuality about LGBTQ groups last year. In 2012, he knows that he is gay when he did the film Hobbit with Ian McKellen, who stated that most of his co-stars were gay in this movie.
In a recent phone interview, I was asked questions that I wasn’t expecting and found myself momentarily at a loss for the right words. My privacy is important to me, so I protect it. When interviewed by the media, I keep the focus on my work.
