In “Yellowjackets,” we follow the exploits of a group of extremely gifted female high school soccer players as they struggle to make it through the harsh northern wilderness after their plane crashes. In addition to showing how they went from a complex but successful team to savage clans, the series also follows them as they try to put the pieces of their lives back together nearly 25 years later, proving that the past is never truly past and that what started in the wilderness is far from over.
The first season also starred Steven Krueger, Warren Kole, Ella Purnell, Samantha Hanratty, Sophie Thatcher, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Ricci, Tawny Cypress. Co-showrunners and executive producers Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson and Jonathan Lisco conceived and developed the series.
The pilot episode was directed and executive produced by Karyn Kusama. Creative Engine’s Drew Comins doubles as an EP. Entertainment One is responsible for producing the show.
Elijah Wood Will Be A Part Of The Current Events Of Season 2 Of ‘Yellowjackets.’
Friday, August 19 (UPI) —
The second season of Yellowjackets, airing on Showtime, now has a new cast member: Elijah Wood. The actor best known for his role in Lord of the Rings will appear in an ongoing guest arc. Wood’s character is a “Citizen Detective” looking into Misty’s disappearance (Christina Ricci). Ricci plays the adult version of Samantha Hanratty, a high school soccer player who, in flashbacks, is played by Hanratty.
Simone Kessell joined the cast on Thursday for Showtime. Courtney Eaton’s teenage character, Lottie, will be portrayed by Kessell in her adult form. Showtime cast Lauren Ambrose, an adult version of Van, on Saturday. At that age, Liv Hewson is Van.
On Yellowjackets, the adult survivors, also including Juliette Lewis, Melanie Lynskey, and Tawny Cypress, try to keep secret what really happened while their team survived in the woods for years. By adding more adults to the cast, we know that more people make it through the ordeal. On December 16, 2021, Showtime announced that Yellowjackets would return for a second season. On January 16, 2022, the season finale aired.
Vancouver is starting Season 2 production this month. The premiere date has not been set by Showtime.
