Netflix is getting spooky. Wednesday, a new Addams Family series, will leave you snapping. Tim Burton brings his spooky talent to the eight-episode series based on Charles Addams’ creations. “Tim has a habit of delivering inspirational stories about societal outsiders,” Netflix‘s head of original shows remarked. “He offers his own vision to Wednesday and her eerie Nevermore classmates.”
Gomez and Morticia Addams, Wednesday and Pugsley, Uncle Fester, Grandmama, butler Lurch, and Cousin It first appeared in a New Yorker comic strip in the late 1930s.
Due to its popularity, several adaptations have been made, including an ABC sitcom from 1964 to 1966, two animated series in 1973 and 1992, a live-action show titled The New Addams Family in 1998, The Addams Family movie in 1991, and its 1993 sequel Addams Family Values, and two animated films in 2019 and 2021.
Here’s all you need to know about the series, from the title actress to the Addams Family alumni returning.

Wednesday, a high school student, is the protagonist of the coming-of-age comedy directed by Tim Burton. It is described as a “sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery,” and it follows the story of Wednesday as she navigates the complexities of relationships within Nevermore Academy while also working to perfect her developing psychic ability.
Wednesday is seeking to solve a mystical mystery that occurred 25 years ago and involves her parents while at the same time trying to stop a monster-killing rampage that is sweeping across the nearby town.
Who Will Play The Role Of Wednesday?
In the role of Wednesday Addams, the principal actress is Jenna Ortega. The actress has made appearances in a number of the original productions that Netflix has released, such as the second season of Penn Badgley’s You and movies such as The Babysitter: Killer Queen and Yes Day, starring Jennifer Garner.
As Ortega joins the roster of actresses who have played the legendary character over the years, including Lisa Loring, Christina Ricci, and Chlo Grace Moretz, she has huge shoes to fill (and long pigtails to braid).

Christina Ricci, who played Wednesday Addams in the movies about the Addams Family that Barry Sonnenfeld made in the 1990s, will be joining the cast of Wednesday. When the Netflix show was first announced, fans started a petition to get her to be in it because they liked how she played the scary girl.
Details about Ricci’s role are still being kept secret, but she is set to play a completely new character. This is the same role that Thora Birch, who was in Hocus Pocus and joined the cast in August but left in December, played.
Kevin Miserocchi, Gail Berman, and Andrew Mittman, who all worked on the 2019 Addams Family, will be executive producers, along with Jonathan Glickman, who was an executive producer on The Addams Family 2.
