How To Watch New York Giants VS. New England Patriots

Already in place since the spring was the direction and scripts for the upcoming football season. The New York Giants starting offence and defence will play at least a half in the team’s final preseason game against the New England Patriots, marking the much-anticipated dress rehearsal.

On offence, quarterback Daniel Jones will be without running back Saquon Barkley, receivers Kenny Golladay and (presumably) Kadarius Toney, and tight end Kyle Rudolph.

Even though it would have been nice to see those players play, Jones can still ease many fans’ minds by demonstrating his improvement in his familiarity with the Giants’ offence, which he didn’t always show in his first season under Jason Garrett’s tutelage.

Patrick Graham, the defensive coordinator, has a slightly different goal in mind, and that is to sort out the depth chart at cornerback and on the defensive line.

Adoree Jackson, who was expected to start, is out with an ankle sprain sustained in last week’s joint practices against the Patriots. The Giants have some depth at cornerback with Jackson and James Bradberry, but they’ll soon find out if they have the quality to take advantage of that depth and implement the more man-heavy and nuanced coverages that Graham is rumoured to be planning.

Undrafted free agent Raymond Johnson III and undersized defensive tackle David Moa have both impressed up front. Both players are tied for the lead with six quarterback pressures through two games.

From the defensive line, four Leonard Williams, Dexter Lawrence II, Austin Johnson, and Danny Shelton are locks to return for the Giants next season. Does that mean that the current representative, B.J. Hill, is vulnerable to challengers like Johnson and/or Moa?
