JayDaYoungan was born on July 15, 1998, in Bogalusa, Louisiana. His grandmother raised him as his mom served in the Army, whereas his father was sentenced to imprisonment throughout his growing years. His stepfather imbibed good traits in him and guided him a lot.
He initially wanted to be an NBA player and called Rajon Rondo his idol. However, his low grades made him unable to continue playing basketball while he was in high school. Around this time, he developed a passion for rapping and used to rap growing up. His friends motivated him to drop his first official single. In eleventh grade, he released his first single on YouTube. He then started performing in several clubs and after he began gaining recognition for his music, he dropped his studies in 12th grade.
