Mark Pedowitz, The CW president said about Riverdale Season 7: “I am a big believer in attempting to give series that have had long runs an appropriate sendoff. We had a long conversation with Roberto [Aguirre-Sacasa] yesterday, who is thrilled by this news, and we will treat the show in the manner it deserves…. We want to make sure it goes out the right way. I think they, too, felt that seven years is the right amount. As a fan myself, I do want to do what is right for the show.”

In an interview with Decider, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said that a number of forgotten cast members from previous seasons are supposed to appear for one last time: “My hope is that season seven, which is our swan song, we see people we haven’t seen return to Riverdale in good, juicy story arcs. That’s kind of what my hope is, that it’s a celebration and a reunion for everyone that’s been a part of Riverdale, and worked so hard to make the show as special as it was. You know, again, a million things to figure out, but that’s my hope, is that people we haven’t seen come back, more than anything.”
He also added “Listen, I would love, love, love, love, love to have Skeet [Ulrich] back,” continuing “I would, and I know everyone would, so my hope is that we can make that happen this season.”
Riverdale Season 7 Plot
In the same interview with Decider, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa teased that the spooky events of the sixth season will of course affect the ending of the series despite the majority of the characters having bygone everything that occurred with Percival. “It is not a hard, complete break from what has come before. Jughead remembers everything that happened. And I think our characters, whether they’re conscious or not, have an emotional memory of what they’ve been through,” the showrunner said.

He then added “So it is again, and I tried to say this after the Rivervale event, Rivervale is in continuity. It is not five episodes that exist outside of continuity. And I think everyone saw that it really was so wedded to Riverdale, and it was so wedded to season six. So, season seven, in my mind, is not the start of a new continuity. It is still in continuity.”
When the host questioned the fate of everyone’s beloved pairs such as Choni, Jabitha, and Barchie; he said “How should I say this? Some of the couples that are spotlighted in the finale will continue. Some will evolve into new things, and there will be new… There will also be new pairings, for sure.”
Roberto then hinted “It’s going to be very different in the ’50s. They’re going to be closeted. They’re going to have to be finding different ways to connect with each other. So, that’s actually one of the exciting stories for us is, how do our characters who we got to know in the quasi-present day, how do we go back and deal with Euphoria problems in the 1950s, or Euphoria realities?”
He also further mentioned that “We haven’t ironed it out,” continuing “I will say, on the last day of shooting, I was chatting with Lili [Reinhart] and she was saying, ‘Oh, it’s so exciting to be in the ’50s.’ And I’m like, ‘Yes, settle in.’ And she was like, ‘We’re gonna be here for long?’ And I’m like, ‘Yep, we’re gonna be here for a while.’ So, I will say it’s not going to be one and done, that’s for sure.”
We will update this section when the official storyline of season 7 of Riverdale is dropped.
