POKÉMON SCARLET AND VIOLET RELEASE DATE
Pokémon Violet and Scarlet were unexpectedly released so soon after Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Legends: Arceus, two other recent games in the series. The timeline provided for the release of this next significant franchise installment was even more unexpected. The current release date for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet is November 18, 2022, making them the second and third games to be released in a calendar year.
New Pokemon
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will include a number of new Pokemon in addition to numerous well-known monsters from prior games. The grass-type cat Sprigatito, the fire-type crocodile Fuecoco, and the water-type duckling Quality were seen in the game’s reveal trailer as the three potential companion Pokemon that players will select as they start the adventure.
The June trailer for the game gave us a glimpse at a few additional monsters, including the pig Pokemon Lechonk and the olive Pokemon Smoliv. Additionally, the video gave us our first look at the legendary cover Pokemon for each game: Koraidon (Pokemon Scarlet) and Miraidon (Pokemon Violet).
Version differences and exclusives
Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet have some variations from earlier Pokemon games, one of which is how your trainer looks. Your character will start out as a student at a different academy and wear a different uniform depending on the game you select. The Pokemon Professor you encounter will also vary based on which edition you select. Professor Turo is the principal researcher in Pokemon Violet, while Professor Sada is seen in Pokemon Scarlet.
Each game will also likely contain a few Pokemon that are version-specific, necessitating player trading if you want to finish your Pokedex. Here are all of the Pokemon that are currently known to be version-exclusive:
Scarlet
- Larvitar
- Stonjourner
Violet
- Bagon
- Eiscue
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Trailers
Nintendo and the Pokemon Company have released three trailers for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet so far. The game’s latest trailer went live on Aug. 3. This one shared even more details on the world and story, confirming that players will be able to ride on the game’s legendary cover monsters, Koraidon and Miraidon, across the region. The video also revealed several more new Pokemon, including the doughy puppy Fidough and a Paldean variant of Wooper.
Pokemon Violet and Scarlet Multiplayer
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet allow you to connect with other players to trade and fight Pokemon, just like earlier games in the series. A first for the series, in addition to these standard elements, the new games now enable you to explore the area with up to three other people. In the June clip, four-player characters meet up and go on an adventure in the same area, giving players a sneak peek into multiplayer exploration.
Raid combat will also return in addition. Crystallized Pokemon can be defeated by a group of three players working together. These Tera raids have a hard time limit, in contrast to the raids in Pokemon Sword and Shield, and players can attack without waiting for their turn.

Pokemon Violet and Scarlet Release Date Platforms
Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet will carry on the history of the series by only being made available on the most recent Nintendo hardware, in this case, the Nintendo Switch. There is no reason to believe that these two editions will be any different from the previous releases of this series on other platforms, not even PC. But chances are if you like Pokémon you already have a Switch waiting for you. Those who play Scarlet will have the opportunity to catch Koraidon while those who play Violet will be able to catch Miraidon. It’s rumored that Koraidon is a Dragon/Fighting Legendary while Miraidon is rumored to be a Dragon/Electric Legendary.
