- Anthony Bellew started his professional boxing career on October 6, 2007, with a second-round TKO against Jamie Ambler. In 2008, he continued to win against opponents like Adam Wilcox and Wayne Brooks, maintaining an unbeaten record. By 2009, Bellew was 12-0, defeating fighters like Matthew Ellis and Nick Okoth.
- In March 2010, Bellew won the vacant Commonwealth light-heavyweight title by beating Atoli Moore. He successfully defended the title against Bob Ajisafe in September 2010 and Ovill McKenzie in December 2010, overcoming knockdowns in the latter fight.
- In October 2011, Bellew challenged Nathan Cleverly for the WBO light-heavyweight title but lost via majority decision. He rebounded by winning the British and Commonwealth titles in a rematch against Ovill McKenzie.
