According to officials and media reports, earlier this week, a traffic crash that took place on June 16 in Mexico took the lives of two actors from Netflix’s forthcoming original series and left six other people injured.
The deceased actors, Raymundo Garduno, and Juan Francisco Aguilar were in a van that rolled over accidentally in a patch of desert close to the community of Mulege on the Baja California Sur peninsula.
During the wreck, the rest of the cast and crew members also suffered some injuries which, as per reports, happened off-set while shooting for the show The Chosen One.
Friends of Aguilar- who performed under the name “Paco Mufote” confirmed to media outlets that he had knocked with regard to poor transportation and logistics earlier by those who are engaged in running the show, and they asked for an investigation.
Were There Not Enough Safety Measures on Set?
Liliana Conlisk Gallegos told the Daily Beast “Paco touched the hearts of everyone he ever met – he was a great actor with a strong trajectory,” adding further “He loved acting and playing music more than anything in the world and he dedicated himself to it, many times suffering economic hardship. He sacrificed for his love of acting.”
She further added “It fills me with rage that there are reports of abuse and exploitation being shared by people involved with the production. I would like to demand that this is further investigated. If nothing wrong was going on, then there shouldn’t be an issue with providing the information.”
Faisal Lutchmedial, who is a writer, stated that he previously worked with Mufote, and wrote in a tweet that he was “absolutely devastated” and “furious” to listen in to remarks of “bad safety measures” on set.
As of yet, there are no remarks from Netflix on the deadly accident, and more information regarding what precisely led the van to flip has not been made available. An independent production company is involved in filming The Chosen One.
The Chosen One tells the story of a 12-year-old boy who recognizes he is the second coming of Jesus Christ and is given the task of protecting mankind. According to reports, it is different from a Portuguese series of the same title.
