Tyler Herro was born on January 20, 2000, in Greenfield, Wisconsin. When he was in high school, he was named to the First Team All-State and during his school career, he scored over 2,000 points.

He got scholarship offers in high school from Marquette University, University of Wisconsin–Madison, DePaul University, Oregon State University, and Arizona State University.

On October 23, 2019, Herro made his NBA debut, beginning with a 120–101 win against the Memphis Grizzlies and ending the season-opener with fourteen points to go including eight rebounds, two steals, and an assist.

He then went on to score a career-high 29 points in his fourth game on October 29 in a 112–97 victory over the Atlanta Hawks.

In 2020, during the All-Star Weekend, he was supposed to play in the Rising Stars game but was excluded as he suffered an ankle injury. He scored a career-high thirty points against the Oklahoma City Thunder in August 2020.

On September 8, 2020, when the Heat was beaten by the Milwaukee Bucks in round 2 of the 2020 NBA playoffs. He became the first player in the history of the NBA to appear in an NBA Conference Finals game who was born in the 2000s.

The NBA named Herro to the 2019–20 NBA All-Rookie Second Team on September 15. Herro scored a career-high 37 points in Game 4 of the 2020 Eastern Conference Finals and became the fourth player in playoffs history to record more than 30 points ahead of turning 21 and the second-highest scorer under 21, with just Magic Johnson scoring more.

He broke a 44-year-old record on October 9, 2020, after he scored ten points in the third quarter of the Game 5 of the 2020 NBA Finals and set the NBA record for the maximum consecutive games in the playoffs by a rookie scoring in double digits with twenty whilst exceeding Alvan Adams’s 1976 record of nineteen games of the Phoenix Suns. The Heat was beaten in the series in six games to the Los Angeles Lakers.

He scored a season-high 34 points, with seven rebounds and 4 assists on January 12, 2021, and later in February, he scored a career-high with 15 rebounds, by 11 points and 4 assists against the Golden State Warriors.

He scored a career-high 11 assists, with 16 points and 6 rebounds on May 16, in a 120–107 victory against the Detroit Pistons. The Heat lost 4 games in the playoffs, to the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round.

He became the first player in Heat franchise history on October 23, 2021, to record a minimum of thirty points and ten rebounds off the bench, which he scored in a 102–91 defeat to the Indiana Pacers.

This season, he was impressed by the Miami Heat and was rewarded with the NBA Sixth Man of the Year award for his amazing performances.
