Netflix‘s “The Witcher” has been one of its most successful series and it is packed with mystic mysteries and strong characters. Vengerberg’s Yennefer is one of the significant characters in the series.
We have seen her become one of the strongest magicians on the continent across the first season. However, at the end of that, she lost her magic and left us with the question: Whether Yennefer would be able to gain her magic back in The Witcher Season 2?
Despite the fact that The Witcher primarily follows the story of Ciri, the arch of Yennefer is also equally significant. Everyone saw the damage Yen ushered in at the Nilfgaardian army at the Battle of Sodden Hill.
The amount of Fire Magic used by her already surprised many people there. It is one of the most vulnerable sorts of magic that a magician can do. A lot anticipated that Yen may tend to lose something that is utterly significant for making use of it, and she actually lost her most cherished, her chaos.
How Did Yennefer Lose Her Powers?
As we saw in the finale episode of the first season of The Witcher, where the magicians were at the edge of being beaten in the Battle of Sodden Hill.
Just then Yennefer was seen using Fire Magic that actually made everything upside down and the magicians stood out triumphantly from the battle.
However, we are aware of the fact that utilizing Fire Magic definitely comes at a massive cost. We must remember the demise of a magician as she laid out a fireball.
Everyone was assuming what would be the price that Yennefer had to pay for making use of Fire Magic to such a huge extent.
A lot of people thought along with Geralt, Tissaia, and a number of others, that Yennefer lost her life at Sodden; but then emerges as she didn’t, rather she was caught by Fringilla and the rest of the Nilfgaardian soldiers.
Then, while a panel of Elves takes the lives of the soldiers and captures Fringilla and Yen to their queen Francesca, we see that all three of them have been having an identical dream.
Then, three of them approach to meet Deathless Mother or Voleth Meir who is an ancient demon that the first witchers of the continent locked in within a hut. After they met Voleth Meir, it is revealed to Yennefer that she has no more connection with Chaos, without which she cannot perform magic any further.
Does Yennefer Regain Her Magic?
Well, the answer to this is actually Yes! Yennefer manages to regain her magic in the second season of The Witcher.
After she met the Deathless Mother, she often gave directions to Yen and urged them to do things that may have prompted her to regain her magic. In fact, she rescued Cahir when she was informed to kill him, though she does not always respond to Voleth Meir’s words and calmly neglects the persistent mocking from her end.
However, later, when Yen was caught by guards in the city of Oxenfurt, she apparently comes to terms with the demon for her magic. Voleth takes her away from the city; telling Yennefer that she will get her magic back after she takes Ciri to the Monolith.
The same structure that the ingest toppled in the first season of the series. Yen consents to do it and then, gets together with Geralt at the Temple of Melitele, where she finds that Ciri is Geralt’s Child Surprise.
Yen rethinks as she witnesses the bonds between Ciri and Geralt, the way they became a father-daughter duo. However, it comes to be that it is already too late; Voleth breaks free from the hut following Yen bringing Ciri to the ruins of the Monolith outside Cintra.
Yennefer made a sacrifice for the princess by bringing out the demon from her body; giving herself as a vessel for it. The swallow repays her as she takes herself, Geralt, and Yennefer to some other sphere where the demon departs Yenna’s body.
Following the trio getting back to their world, Yennefer finds that her connection to Chaos has been set up. Looks like the sacrifice she made for Ciri led her to gain her magic back.
