Lucifer is an American mystery TV series created by Tom Kapinos and adapted from the DC Comics character created by Neil Gaiman, Mike Dringenberg, and Sam Kieth, taken from the comic book series called The Sandman.

Jerry Bruckheimer Television, DC Entertainment, and Warner Bros. Television served as the producer for the series. The series’ first season aired from January 25, 2016, to April 25, 2016, with a total of 13 episodes on Fox.

The series ran for six seasons; from the fourth season, it started airing on Netflix. Season 6 of Lucifer premiered on September 10, 2021, with a total of 10 episodes.

The series received mostly positive reviews from audiences as well as critics and has an IMDB rating of 8.1 out of 10 and 88% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The series was canceled by Fox after three seasons because of declining ratings in May 2018 and just after a month of cancellation, it was picked by Netflix for the renewal.

Fans have been waiting to know about the renewal of the series for a new season and here’s what we know about it so far.

Lucifer Season 7 Release Date

Even before the premiere of the sixth season, the series was canceled and it was announced that the fifth season will be the last and final season. However, the huge fandom and popularity led Netflix to renew it for another season and the sixth season was said to be the last and final season of the series on June 23, 2020.

Since then, there is no indication given for renewal of the series for season 7 and as of yet, the series stands canceled. But we may still keep our hopes but definitely not too high.

Lucifer Season 7 Expected Storyline

The series centers around an angel turned devil, who was confined and the punishment was to literally rule the “Hell”. Lucifer is also popular as Devil, however, on earth, he is identified as Lucifer Morningstar and originally, he is one of the sons of God.

Following he was bored from “running the hell”, he went to visit Earth and after some incidents, he met Chole Decker who is one of the Detectives working for the LAPD.

Somehow, he gets the opportunity to work with her in order to resolve many cases assigned to the department.

He has this unique power that enables him to know the deepest darkest aspirations of anyone. And then, the story starts, with a lot of cases yet to solve, people to protect, and definitely, it also has a romantic angle as well.

In the last season of Lucifer, we saw, in the end, Lucifer understanding his calling, which is of course a fair ending to the story. He understands that Hell does not need a keeper any further but instead, a healer. He stops Rory from contracting her wrath and regret.

Consequently, he saved her soul and sought to do the same for the other distressed souls of Hell. The tale ends with Lucifer getting back to Hell as a better man than he was earlier. The last season didn’t leave any cliffhangers or unanswered questions so we cannot literally predict the storyline a new season would follow.
