Early Life
Vanessa Hudgens was born on December 14, 1988, in Salina, California to Gina and Gregory Hudgens.
Her mother used to work in an office whereas her father worked as a firefighter. She grew up in many places up and down the West Coast of the U.S from Southern California to Oregon. She also has a sibling, a younger sister, Stella who is also an actress.
Since she was young, Vanessa was fond of performing and when she was 10, she started performing in local musical theater productions in 1998, including productions of shows such as “The Wizard of Oz”, “Carousel”, “The Music Man”, “The King and I”, and “Cinderella”.

She paid $1,000 in May 2016 in restitution for damage to U.S. Forest Service property by engraving initials within a heart on a rock in the Coconino National Forest and featuring it on her Instagram feed.
Vanessa posted an Instagram video in March 2020 in which she mentioned that it is “inevitable” that people will succumb to death due to the coronavirus pandemic and that resulted in controversy since critics blamed her for reducing the effect of the disease and the necessity for precautionary measures. Vanessa made her professional acting debut with the role of Tiffany on an episode of the television show titled “Still Standing”. She then appeared as a guest star in an episode of “Robbery Homicide Division”, prior to landing her first acting role in the 2003 film titled “Thirteen” where she portrayed a supporting character.
In 2006, she booked the lead role of Gabriella Montez in the Disney Channel Original Movie titled “High School Musical”, beside Zac Efron and Ashley Tisdale and her performance raised her to the spotlight.
The film became a hit, and was viewed by 7.7 million people in its premiere broadcast in the U.S. Furthermore, presenting her stellar acting performance, the movie also showcased her singing talent as well.
She recorded many songs for the movie’s soundtrack which became successful commercially especially her duet with Zac Efron titled “Breaking Free”, which debuted at number four on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States.
