Early Life
Wynonna Judd was born on May 30, 1964, in Ashland, Kentucky. She had taken the last name of her step-father. Michael Ciminella with whom her mother, Naomi Judd, tied the knot after being dumped by Wynonna’s biological father, Charles Jordan.
She has a younger sibling, half-sister, Ashley Judd. In 1968, The family relocated to Los Angeles and her parents divorced by 1972.
Wynonna and Naomi were residing in Kentucky by 1976, where she was inspired by the country music that her mother used to listen to and started taking guitar lessons after she received one as a Christmas gift.
In 1979, both of them relocated to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue a career in music. Following her mother switching her name legally from Diana to Naomi, Christina took the stage name “Wynonna.”
Personal Life
In 1993, Wynonna met Arch Kelley III and in late 1994, the duo welcomed their son Elijah Judd. In 1996, the duo tied the knot when Wynonna was expecting their second child.
On November 22, 2003, Wynonna got married to her second husband, an ex-bodyguard D. R. Roach. He was charged with the allegation of sexually assaulting a child under the age of 13 and after 5 days, Wynonna filed for divorce.
In 2003, Judd appeared on an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show talking about what she explained as an extreme dependence upon the food which premiered in February 2004. Wynonna had been working with the show to shred a massive weight.
Judd made a second appearance on the show in September 2005, talking about how she managed to lose some weight and had reconciled her relationships with her mother and her step-dad, Michael Ciminella, with whom she was at odds for around ten years.
She also appeared as a judge for the 6th annual Independent Music Awards to back the careers of independent artists.
In December 2011, she got engaged to her boyfriend, musician Cactus Moser, popular as the drummer for Highway 101 and the couple tied the knot in June 2012 in Tennessee.
Moser became extremely injured in a motorcycle accident in August 2012 in South Dakota. His left leg had to be amputated above the knee because of severe injuries.
Her daughter Grace was sentenced to imprisonment of 8 years in June 2018 for breaking her probation period. Grace pleaded guilty to possession, manufacturing, and distribution of methamphetamines.

The Judds relocated to Nashville, Tennessee back in 1979 in pursuit of a career in music together as the mother-daughter duo The Judds. During the period 1983 to 1991, The Judds recorded 23 successful tracks on the Billboard Hot Country Singles charts, which includes 14 singles peaking at number one.
The duo also recorded 8 studio albums, one Christmas album as well as two Greatest Hits compilations. Throughout their career of six years, they sold over 20 million records across the globe and received more than 60 industry awards, which also include 8 Billboard Music Awards, 5 Grammy Nominations, and 9 County Music Association awards.
There was a time when The Judds were the biggest-selling duo in country music and continue to do so before Brooks & Dunn overcast the duo during the ’90s.
In 1991, Naomi was forced to announce an early retirement after she suffered a chronic bout of hepatitis C. In 1999, Wynonna and her mother came together for a New Year’s Eve concert that was sponsored by K-Mart. In 2000, the duo set about on a tour together and released 4 new Judds songs.
Later, in 2010, the mother-daughter duo teamed up for an 18-city tour “The Last Encore”. As a consequence of the successful tour, their new album titled “I Will Stand by You: The Essential Collection,” was released in April 2011, which had 2 new songs and their 12 huge hits.
Solo Career
Following the mother-daughter duo separating their ways, MCA Records signed Wynonna as a solo artist. She performed solo on television for the first time in January 1992 at the American Music Awards, revealing her first single titled “She Is His Only Need”, from her self-titled debut solo album.
That year, the song peaked at number 1 on the Billboard country singles charts, and the next 3 singles of the albums titled, “I Saw the Light” “My Strongest Weakness” and “No One Else on Earth” also debuted at number one.
In 1993, she released her second album entitled “Tell Me Why”, and delivered 5 back-to-back Top Ten hits on the country charts: “Only Love,” “Is It Over Yet,” “Rock Bottom,” and “Girls with Guitars” and “Tell Me Why.”
In 1993, she won an award for the ACM Female Artist of the Year. Since she was not present at the ceremony, her mother Naomi accepted the award on her behalf.
Judd released her third album titled “Revelations,” in 1996 which RIAA certified platinum, and got off with her fourth and final No. 1 hit titled “To Be Loved by You.”
Wynonna released her fourth and final album under the MCA label titled “The Other Side,” which could not perform as well as her initial three and managed to get just a gold certification, and its lead songs weren’t as hit as her earlier singles. Later, she left MCA for Mercury Records.
Wynonna’s fifth solo album entitled “New Day Dawning” was released in 1999 and in 2003, she released her sixth studio album entitled “What the World Needs Now Is Love” with the lead songs faring well.
