According to Celebrity Net Worth, Rick Ross has an estimated net worth of $45 million. He has been one of the highest-paid rappers worldwide. 

Early Life

Rick Ross was born on January 28, 1976, in Clarksdale, Mississippi, and grew up in Carol City, Florida. Rick went to the historically black college Albany State University on a football scholarship after he graduated from Miami Carol City Senior High School.

In December 1995, he started working as a correctional officer and in June 1997 he resigned after serving for eighteen months. 

Personal Life

In October 2011, he went through two seizures in a day and was unconscious subsequently due to which CPR had to be performed on him and following he suffered second seizures, he was rushed to hospital.

On 27 January 2013, when he was celebrating his birthday with his girlfriend, both of them became the target of a drive-by shooting in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Fortunately, none of them suffered any injury. 

In March 2018, Rick Ross was taken to hospital after he was found unconscious in his home located in Miami, Florida, he suffered a possible heart attack and was put on life support. After spending a few days in the hospital, he was discharged. 

He is the father of four beautiful kids: William Roberts III, Toie Roberts, Berkeley Hermes Roberts, and Billion Leonard Roberts. In 2015, he was engaged to Lira “Galore” Mercer briefly.

Career

During the initial years of his music career at Suave House Records, Rick Ross made his debut with the pseudonym Teflon Da Don. And with the single titled “Ain’t Shhh to Discuss”, he made his recording debut. He adopted his stage name Rick Ross during the mid-2000s. 

Suave House Records signed him and later he landed a deal with Slip-n-Slide Records while he was signed to Slip-n-Slide Records, he went on tour with fellow rapper Trick Daddy and in addition, he also made guest appearances on other Slip-n-Slide Records albums.

In August 2006, he released his first album entitled Port of Miami which dominated the U.S. Billboard 200 album chart, he then released his second single titled “Push It”, the music videos of which were modeled after the movie.

Ross also made guest appearances during this period on two songs titled “Born-N-Raised” and “Holla at Me” which were from the debut album of DJ Khaled: Listennn… the Album. On 8 November 2006, the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) gave him Gold certification.

Ross released his second album entitled “Trilla” in March 2008 which topped the Billboard 200. The lead track of the album, “Speedin” ranked at number 21 on the U.S. Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles; another single of the album titled “The Boss” also dominated the Hot 100 by peaking at number 17.

“Here I Am”, the third song from the album featuring Nelly and Avery Storm peaked at number 4 on MTV News’ “Hottest MCs in the Game” list amongst the 10 rappers.

In 2009, his third studio album titled Deeper Than Rap was released and the single from the album titled “Valley of Death” caught the eye of MTV reporters as Ross speaks briefly on his controversial stint as a prison guard in the track.

The year 2010 turned out to be really good for Ross as he achieved a lot in this year. Ross released Albert Anastasia EP in May which was critically acclaimed and on July 20, 2010, his fourth studio album entitled Teflon Don was released which peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200. 

Diddy, with whom Ross collaborated quite frequently, signed Ross and announced that both of them are working together on an EP. A track titled “Another One” was released for the project and later, Ross released a mixtape titled Ashes To Ashes on Christmas Eve 2010.

On July 31, 2012, he released his fifth studio album titled God Forgives, I Don’t which peaked at number two on the UK R&B Albums Chart and number 8 on the UK Albums Chart, also peaked at number 1 on the Billboard 200 becoming Ross’s highest-charting album.

In October 2012, a mixtape The Black Bar Mitzvah was released by him. He then released his sixth album titled “Mastermind” in 2013 and the first official song of the album premiered on September 5, 2013. Mastermind was released in March 2014 which was also successful and topped the Billboard 200 chart.

Ross’s ninth studio album entitled Rather You Than Me was released in March 2017 and peaked at number 3 on the Billboard 200.

He released the first single from the album titled “Florida Boy” with T-Pain and Kodak Black and then released “Green Gucci Suit” with Future on June 22, 2018, as the second single from his tenth studio album titled Port of Miami 2, released on August 9, 2019, which peaked at number two on the Billboard 200.

The song titled “Gold Roses” from the album received a nomination for a Grammy Award for Best Rap Song at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards.

Ross came together with singer August Alsina in July 2020 for a song titled “Entanglements”, a diss track towards Alsina’s former lover Jada Pinkett Smith. He released a single titled “Pinned to the Cross” on August 7, 2020, featuring Finn Matthews.

In August 2020, Ross announced his eleventh album titled Richer Than I Ever Been in an interview with Hot 97. The album will be released in December 2021.

On September 7, 2021, Ross’s book, The Perfect Day to Boss Up peaked at number five on The New York Times’ weekly bestsellers list.
