Monday at The Great Idol Reunion, fan-favorite American Idol competitors Willie Spence and Grace Kinstler played one of country music’s most legendary duets.
The two vocalists performed a version of the Clean Bandit and Jess Glynne’s song “Rather Be.”
Spence began their performance-stealing duet by singing the first line of the popular song before Kinstler joined him onstage. The duo displayed their powerful vocals while performing on a big platform surrounded by an excellent production.
After their high performance, Idol judges Lionel Richie and Katy Perry commended their vocal abilities and artistic development.
“I feel like a proud mother,” said Perry. “You know when people say, ‘Oh, they’ve changed after being famous?” “Indeed, you have evolved in all the correct ways.”
“Outstanding, welcome home!” Richie shouted. Ryan Seacrest then joined the Idol alumni onstage to discuss their recent endeavors.
Kinstler disclosed that she collaborated with Alessia Cara’s team following performing a duet with Cara on the Idol finale in 2021.
“Yes, I’ve been collaborating with her team on new songs, and my first single since the show on Friday is titled ‘Breaking Myself,'” Kinstler revealed. According to Mass Live, she has also relocated to Los Angeles and begun working on her debut album, dedicated to her father, who died unexpectedly in February 2020.
After getting an invitation from Queen Elizabeth, Spence just played The National Anthem in the United Kingdom.
“I couldn’t believe it, and to be able to travel abroad… Spence stated, “I’ve never gone out of the country before.” In April 2021, Spence released his debut EP, The Voice, and the follow-up song, “Never Be Alone.”

“Does the monarch watch American Idol?” Perry exclaimed with surprise.
Kinstler and Spence, both contestants during season 19, had previously sung “What They’ll Say About Us” by FINNEAS on the program.
The Great Idol Reunion featured a series of duets in which past Idol winners and competitors collaborated with other Idol alumni for unique performances.
In addition to Spence and Kinstler, Laci Kaye Booth, Laine Hardy, Jordin Sparks, Ruben Studdard, Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina, David Cook, Kris Allen, Maddie Poppe, Caleb Lee Hutchinson, David Archuleta, William Hung, and Justin Guarini performed throughout the program.
Former Idol judges Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson also made special appearances during the show.
