Riverdale has established itself as one of The CW’s most popular shows since its 2017 launch and is currently in the middle of its sixth season.
Season 7 of the sitcom was renewed, promising another round of murders, mysteries, and young adult shenanigans.
Along with other superhero shows such as Superman & Lois Lane and The Flash, Riverdale has joined a lengthy list of shows that have received early renewals.
Mark Pedowitz, chairman and CEO of The CW Network, made the following statement in reaction to the renewals:
The scripted series and the alternative programs previously renewed will provide the groundwork for next year and beyond as we prepare for the 2022-23 season,” the network added.
“These scripted series, together with the alternative series we renewed earlier this year, will serve as the foundation for next year and beyond, utilizing some of our most popular programs.”
These dramas are also critical to our larger digital strategy. They are among our most streamed and socially engaged programming, and we look forward to presenting other new and returning series to strengthen further and build our multi-platform presence.”
There has been a great deal of concern recently over the future of Riverdale and its characters.
Due to Season 5’s time jump, in which our favorite characters transitioned from high school kids to young adults in their mid-20s.
While Seasons 1-5 were based in the real world and lacked magical components, Season 6 fully abandons that premise. To begin, a five-episode anthology tale will be presented.
This season has seen Archie’s heart ripped out, the inhabitants of Riverdale join a witch cult, the genuine devil arrive in town, and the show’s debut appearance of Sabrina, the Teenage Witch.
Although this new magical dimension for the series was revealed as an alternate reality called “Rivervale,” fragments of that more imaginative plot have already begun to seep into the regular Riverdale chronology.
The creator of the series, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, has previously suggested that the “Rivervale” plot would have long-term repercussions and that the supernatural elements remain.
Riverdale Season 7 Release Date
Riverdale Season 6 has concluded, and we will have to wait a little longer to see when Riverdale Season 7 will premiere. According to current forecasts, the program will premiere in November 2022.
Riverdale Season 7 Plot
Riverdale looks to be undergoing a dramatic transformation. For the time being, classic characters such as Hiram are thought dead, but the Ghoulies and Serpents are planning for another turf war in response to Archie’s interference, and the Trash Bag Killer has reappeared.
Due to their dark and powerful bond with Betty, the writers believe the latter will pose the greatest threat for the remainder of the season. Season 7 will see the debut of a new genre.
Additionally, a new and ruthless antagonist will be introduced, whom our characters will have to confront and seek to defeat. We anticipate our characters engaging in some activities that will keep us on the edge of our seats, as they have done in the past with the majority of Riverdale’s events.
