Is Sweet Home Renewed for Season 2?
It has been more than a year since the premiere of Sweet Home Season One and there has been no official announcement made about the renewal of Sweet Home for the second season. However, there are rumors circulating over the Internet regarding the beginning of the production of the Sweet Home Season 2.
Surprisingly, in December 2020, the series’ co-director, Lee Eung-bok had already given hints on the probability of season two during an interview.
In an interview with Bustle, Lee Eung-bok said “While we were writing, we completed the end of the storyline ourselves, so there are a couple of things that came out after we were done. If the opportunity arises, we want to also introduce the monsters that we weren’t able to. We want to stay true to the original.”
Last year in July, a piece from Soompi stated that “industry representatives reported that the drama will begin filming a second season in December [2021].”
But, sadly, these reports were then addressed by Netflix saying that “Nothing has been decided yet regarding the production of season 2.”
Although, still there are new rumors spreading on social media platforms that claim that the second season of the series is in the works. Check out below:

Perhaps, there is no other community like the K-drama, as it features eagle-eyed detective abilities that are able to match any private investigator.
A few weeks ago, reportedly, a lot of images were spreading over the Internet from the production set of the second season of our beloved series, Sweet Home.
Allegedly, the source of these snaps is the Instagram page of the manager of lead actor Song Kang.
In the above pictures, the first snap has a blood-blemished shoe with the caption “It has started”, followed by the second being about the script for the first episode and the last snap being reportedly from the set itself.
However, fans should take these with a pinch of salt as nothing has yet been publicly affirmed and there is no way to confirm if the sets are for Sweet Home or another project.
Sweet Home Season 2 Expected Release Date
As mentioned earlier, the series has not been renewed yet for season 2 and so, there is no exact date available yet. Although, if the series’ second season would also take the same production time as the first season, we expect that the Sweet Home Season 2 will be dropped by the third quarter of this year.
Taking into account a translated version of an interview on Reddit, the writers did not “follow 100% of [the] Webtoon story” since they sought to explore “different perspectives,” which means that the production of the second season may not start before the planning of a desirable synopsis and script that would be able to do justice with the first season.
And it is quite natural to take some time in order to create such an amazing story, so the wait is all worth it.
The filming of the first season wrapped up after over 8 months, with production being limited in its last weeks due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With the expectation that the second season will also continue a similar intense production routine, the series’ second season could apparently be released by September 2022.
This would also be in line with the ‘leaked’ images mentioned above from the production set. In case, we believe those snaps and filming have begun just now, it would take some months obviously to complete.

Sweet Home Season 2 Expected Storyline
At the end of season one, we saw that as the elevator opens, Hyun-Soo introduces Ui-myeong to the remaining survivors and says that he is exactly like himself, which led them to stand down. After blazing and killing the goo monster, Ui-myeong thinks the coexistence of humans and monsters isn’t possible.
As Sang-wook tries to bring Yu-ri out following g learning about her experiencing an asthma attack, Ui-myeong prevented him, who would definitely not let them go learning that they will be murdered by the military during Operation Golden Hour, which would kill everyone and everything.
Hyun-Soo lets Sang-Wook depart but this leads Ui-myeong to open fire and take the lives of two survivors, it is just following when Hyun-Soo transforms into a monster that he is prevented. Du-Sik lost his life in order to calm Hyun-Soo down. In another room, Gil-seob dies in his sleep peacefully and is buried.
Although, it unveils a secret tunnel. Following the bodies are buried, winter approaches, and also the military says the survivors will be sent to a safe camp, and also the infected ones have to surrender.
Hyun-Soo heads to face the military whilst the apartment building begins to crash due to a surviving outlaw that led to an explosion and Eun-hyeok is assumably murdered when the collapse happened since his nose begins to bleed.
The survivors make it above ground following them to enter the tunnels and are sent to a safe camp. Yi-Kyung takes the decision of joining the military and suggests the survivors remain alive.
Hyun-Soo gets up in an armored vehicle after facing off the military and is welcomed by Sang-Wook, just to realize it is rather Ui-myeong, who has taken Sang-Wook’s form.
We can expect the second to continue from where it left but the official announcement is awaited.
We hope the creator of Netflix makes the announcement about the renewal of the series soon and will keep you updated as the information is available, until then stay tuned to our website.
