As Amazon Prime Video revealed a renewal six months before the show’s November 2021 premiere, the Wheel of Time will continue to spin for quite some time.
Just before the premiere of the first season, TVLine spoke with Vernon Sanders, Amazon Studios’ Head of Global Television, about the reasons behind the early announcement:
“We’re fans of the program, and when episodes arrived and we saw the level of craftsmanship, and as we proceeded to discuss future seasons with [showrunner] Rafe [Judkins], we were quite sure that we had something that could last a very long time.
These are significant expenditures, and we spent much time ensuring we made the correct option, but it continues to pay off for us.
These expenditures are already paying off, as The Wheel of Time is the most-watched original series on Amazon Prime Video in 2021. This bodes exceedingly well for season two, which will continue to be inspired by author Robert Jordan’s original book series.
The Wheel of Time season 2 Release date
Amazon has not given a precise release date for The Wheel of Time season two, but with production beginning in July 2021, we wouldn’t be shocked if new episodes appeared in the spring or summer of 2022.
Though a few facts regarding The Wheel of Time’s second season have been disclosed, we have extracted a few tidbits.
The season will have the same eight-episode format as the first. Additionally, their official Twitter page confirmed that the season two premiere would be titled ‘A Taste of Solitude.’
The announcement was made via a post of a photograph of the screenplay captioned, “With this many Ta’veren in one area, one season would never be enough.” We cannot get enough! Please provide further information.
Be prepared for The Wheel of Time’s second season to begin immediately after Lord of the Rings’ first season concludes. Thus, in 2022, Amazon Prime will be the unchallenged king of fantasy television.
The Wheel of Time season 2 Cast
Like The Wheel of Time’s star performer, Rosamund Pike will undoubtedly reprise her role as Moiraine Damodred for season two, and she is fully dedicated to giving it her all. Moiraine actor Pike stated in an interview with Access:
“We’re devoting our hearts and souls to something enormous in scope, with plenty of action. You care about the characters because ultimately, people will identify with one of them, and I believe they will become fan favorites.”
She described why Moiraine is such a fascinating figure. “At first, we only glimpse a portion of the strata that Moiraine would reveal over time,” Pike explains.
“She does not disclose all of her cards; she only displays a small portion of them. What she says to Egwene [Madeleine Madden] in episode two — ‘We always speak the truth, but it may not always be the truth you believe you’re hearing’ — is critical counsel when dealing with Aes Sedai since they may still mislead the truth.”
She continues: “Moiraine is a highly motivated individual. By the time we meet her in this series [series one], she has been on a 20-year journey with a single objective; she has followed this quest at the expense of her friends and personal aspirations. She is quite noble, but it’s almost frightening.”
We’re looking forward to seeing more of her character develop. She’ll be joined by several new cast members, including Ceara Coveney from The Amazing World of Emma, Meera Syal from Broadchurch, and Natasha O’Keeffe from Peaky Blinders.
In season two, these three performers will join Guy Roberts, Arnas Fedaravicius, and Gregg Chilingirian in recurring roles.
Except for one significant exception, the remainder of season one’s cast should also return. Mat Cauthon, initially portrayed by Barney Harris, has been replaced with Dónal Finn from The Witcher.

The Wheel of Time season 2 Plot
When TVLine questioned Vernon Sanders about season two, and if it will “go even greater” than the first, Sanders had a very encouraging response for those anxious to see what’s next.
He stated: “Rafe has been an excellent leader – smart, courteous, and committed to doing things the right way — as has Rosamund. Thus, we went into season 2 with a genuine discussion about, ‘How can we do even better now that we’ve developed this massive universe and these characters?’ As a result, I can confidently anticipate that season 2 will be larger, bolder, and more expansive than the first.”
This program has to be bigger, bolder, and more broad going ahead, as there are 14 novels in the original series, and that’s a lot of stuff to pick through.
The first season is based on the first novel, The Eye of the World, and you can purchase the sequel, The Great Hunt, and the boxset in its whole or simply the first three books here.
Fortunately, showrunner Rafe Judkins appears to be up to the task, as he told Deadline that he envisions the program lasting eight seasons. “I always have to approach it as if we’re going to have the opportunity to portray the entire tale contained in the books.
If we don’t approach it that way, we’re setting ourselves up to fail, and these stories have such a satisfying finish.
“I need to set us up to go there if we can. That is ultimately not up to me. If people continue to watch it and Amazon wants to produce more, I’d love to continue expanding this universe.”
Wheel of Time Season 2 Trailer
Season two filming began before the first season concluded on Amazon Prime Video, so fresh material should arrive sooner rather than later. By Spring 2022, we anticipate the release of a teaser. Check the season 1 trailer:
