Michael Gerard Tyson who is professionally known as Mike Tyson is an American former professional boxer who fought from 1985 until 2005.
Even during his early career, people used to refer to him as “Kid Dynamite,” and “Iron Mike”; later he became popular as “The Baddest Man on the Planet.”

Early Life
Mike Tyson was born on June 30, 1966, in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, New York City. He is the child of “Purcell Tyson” who worked as a cab driver and Tyson’s mother, was said to be a slaggy woman who might have been a prostitute, but the man Tyson had known as his father was a pimp named Jimmy Kirkpatrick.
Kirkpatrick got married and welcomed a son, Tyson’s half-brother named Jimmie Lee Kirkpatrick, who would join Charlotte high school football in 1965. He has an older brother, Rodney, and an older sister, Denise, who passed away after suffering a heart attack when she was just 24 in 1990.
Jimmy Kirkpatrick left his family and relocated to Brooklyn in 1959 where he met Tyson’s mother, Lorna Mae (Smith) Tyson. Kirkpatrick visited pool halls, gambled, and hung out on the streets.
Tyson said, “My father was just a regular street guy caught up in the street world.” Kirkpatrick left the Tyson family when Mike was born and left Tyson’s mother alone to look after the children. In 1992, Kirkpatrick passed away.
At the age of 10, Tyson’s family moved to Brownsville. After six years, his mother also passed away and left the 16-year-old Tyson under the care of boxing manager and trainer Cus D’Amato, who became his legal guardian.
Later, Tyson said, “I never saw my mother happy with me and proud of me for doing something: she only knew me as being a wild kid running the streets, coming home with new clothes that she knew I didn’t pay for.

Tyson has been married three times, and has seven children, one dead; apart from his biological children, Tyson includes his second wife’s eldest daughter as one of his own.
On February 7, 1988, he got married to his first wife, actress Robin Givens and the couple separated a year later in 1989. At the time, Givens was popular for her portrayal in the television series titled Head of the Class.
Their marriage was particularly fierce, with accusations of violence, abuse, and mental vulnerability on Tyson’s end.
On April 19, 1997, Tyson got married to his second wife, Monica Turner and the pair separated in 2003.

Career
In 1981 and 1982, in Junior Olympics, Tyson first experienced professional boxing and won gold medals also. Later, he competed in the 1984 Summer Olympics but couldn’t win against Henry Tillman in two bouts.
When he was 18, he fought his first professional fight and he defeated Hector Mercedes with a first-round TKO. With this, a growing trend for Tyson started, who often finished fights in the first round.
He went on to fight opponents who were more difficult to compete with as compared to those he had encountered earlier, with several assuming an early rise to fame.
In 1985, Cus D’Amatto passed away and it was a huge loss for Tyson since he played an important father role early in his career. Later, several said that this would turn out as a damaging impact on Tyson’s ensuing life.
