Death Parade is a Japanese animated TV show picked up for production by Madhouse and written, created, and directed by Yuzuru Tachikawa.
The series is based on the 2013 short film titled Death Billiards. The first season of the series premiered from January 9, 2015, to March 27, 2015, on NTV, Sun TV, BS Nittele, AT-X, and MMT with a total of twelve episodes. The series is licensed by Madman Entertainment in Australia and New Zealand and by Funimation in North America.
The series received many appreciations and positive reviews from critics as well as viewers and has an IMDB rating of 7.9 out of 10 and 8.2 out of 10 on MyAnimeList.net. After a successful season one there have been many speculations as to season two and here’s what we know so far about it.
Is Death Parade Renewed for Season 2?
It has already been over seven years since the premiere of the first season and nothing has been hinted yet on the second season of the series despite so many requests from anime fans.
The animation studio Madhouse has not even uttered a word since then that indicated the renewal of the series but it also didn’t indicate the cancellation of the second season.
There may be certain reasons which are hindering Madhouse to move further with this project. We will have to wait until the official announcement to know more.

There can also be certain changes or additions to the cast of the second season since the confirmation is still awaited.
Death Parade Season 2 Expected Storyline
Though there is no information about the second season of Death Parade, however, to get an idea about what we can expect from it, let’s dig into the events that happened in the first season. The series takes us to the complicated world of the afterlife, where people are sent to one of the several strange bars following their demise.
Those bars are operated by bartenders working as Arbiters and they compel dead people to take part in Death Games in order to decide if they will be entitled to revival or sent to the void.
The series revolves around Decim who is a bartender and an Arbiter of Quindecim. Decim begins having human sentiments following he meets a meddlesome black-haired woman whose name is Chiyuki.
Following a sequence of events, Decim made the decision to revive Chiyuki. Both of them ultimately left as Chiyuki presumes a new life whereas Decim continues to be in the bar, all set to welcome new souls.
Though the prospected storyline for the second season isn’t known yet, Madhouse can decide to explore Decim’s backstory in order to establish his character. It is also intriguing to watch how Decim’s attitude as an Arbiter will alter after the emotional encounter with Chiyuki.
We can also expect the second season to send Chiyuki again to the afterlife once her newly revived life ends and if that takes place then, will she be able to recognize Decim? Well, we have to wait until the official announcement to end all our speculations.
