Amy Schumer will remain at Hulu. The Disney-owned streaming service has renewed Schumer’s dramedy Life & Beth for a second season. The comedian revealed the news during a Tuesday interview on The Howard Stern Show.
The renewal comes a little over a month after Life & Beth was released in its entirety. The show has received favorable reviews; however, watching statistics are not yet available.
(Hulu does not disclose internal ratings, although the series is one of the most-watched original comedies on the service thus far this year.
Life & Beth revolves around Schumer’s titular character, a wine distributor in Manhattan with a long-term partner and a perfect life.
When a chance encounter leads Beth to confront her history, her life is irrevocably altered, bringing her back to her Long Island childhood home to confront her past.
In a March cover story for the Hollywood Reporter, the Oscars co-host shared part of the motivation for the highly personal series: “My mother was quite destructive and did some extremely bad things, and I also felt extremely special and cherished growing up.”
She’s been nice throughout [the process of creating the program]. She’s like, ‘I’m 73; I accept responsibility for my faults,’ and that’s the thing: My mother is tremendously flawed, but I like her.”
