Kiznaiver – A Brief Synopsis
Kiznaiver takes place in the future, in a fictitious town in Japan called Sugomori City. At first sight, the city appears to be entirely normal, but this is not the case, as it is a part of a research project named “Kizna System.” The ultimate objective of this research is to bring about world peace. The System’s founders feel that the best way to do this is for individuals to share their pain and suffering, whether mental or physical, with one another.
These individuals are dubbed “Kiznaivers,” which corresponds to the anime’s title. Additionally, we discover that in Japanese, “kizu” denotes “wound” or “scar,” and “Kizuna” indicates “bond” or “connection.” The anime drama’s protagonist is Katsuhira Agata, a high school student who learns from a mystery girl Noriko Sonozaki that he has been chosen to become one of the Kiznaivers and shares his misery with his classmates who have also been picked to join the System.
However, once they are in this scenario, they learn how much and in what ways Katsuhira is different from the rest.
