Netflix premiered the first season of “Yasuke” on April 29, 2021, depicting the exploits of the titular character, a historical figure who was the first African samurai.
Yasuke landed in Japan on July 25, 1579, from Africa, most likely Mozambique, according to several historical documents.
He served Japanese Daimyo Oda Nobunaga until 1582 when Nobunaga was deceived and assassinated by one of his generals. Yasuke fled the country following that tragic occurrence, but the remainder of his life is unclear.
The Netflix anime “Yasuke” adapts the samurai’s narrative, setting it in a fantasy 16th-century Japan filled with magic, mechas, and other peril. Six episodes from the first season depict demonic powers attempting to seize control of medieval Japan following Nobunaga’s death.
Yasuke seeks to retire from his brutal past as a samurai but is charged with the responsibility of protecting a little girl named Saki, who possesses magical abilities.
“Yasuke” has already amassed a sizable following, with many anxious for more. The following is what we currently know about a probable “Yasuke” Season 2.
When will Yasuke Season 2 be released?
There is currently no word on whether or not there will be a second season of “Yasuke.” The series has received rave reviews from reviewers and consumers alike, and it represents a significant step forward for anime diversity.
Along with the show’s stellar 91 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Netflix has several reasons to renew the show.
If Netflix renews “Yasuke” for a second season shortly, the show may premiere about a year or a year and a half from now. Anime can take far longer to make than live-action shows, and production pace is reliant on the structure of the team of story writers and animators and their ability to work quickly.
Additionally, like with other programs, Netflix may have planned for additional episodes in advance, so with any hope, “Yasuke” Season 2 is currently in development and will be published sooner rather than later.
Who will star in Yasuke Season 2?
While “Yasuke” includes dubbing in various languages, including German, Spanish, French, and, of course, Japanese, the original dialogue is in English.
The film’s principal cast includes Academy Award candidate LaKeith Stanfield as the eponymous character, Takehiro Hira as Oda Nobunaga, Maya Tanida as Saki, Ming-Na Wen as Natsumaru, Don Donahue as the wicked Abraham, and Paul Nakauchi as the doctor Morisuke.
Depending on the narrative, the second season will feature a slew of known faces. Of course, Stanfield would reprise his role as Yasuke, and Tanida’s Saki would return well.
Additionally, several characters perish in “Yasuke” Season 1, including Nobunaga, Natsumaru, and the Daimyo, a witch and one of the show’s primary antagonists, voiced by Amy Hill. Anything is possible in an anime, but these characters are unlikely to reappear in Season 2.
Along with the Season 1 cast, “Yasuke,” Season 2 will introduce several new characters as the anime’s universe develops.
What will the storyline of Yasuke Season 2 be about?
“Yasuke’s” the first season establishes several storylines that will be developed in subsequent episodes. Yasuke succeeds in defending Saki and rescuing her from the Daimyo, who desires her abilities.
Although it looks as though everything is under control, Saki is cautioned by the Daimyo that her powers will continue to expand. She will soon be unable to control them, with the sole purpose of acquiring greater power and wreaking havoc.
Yasuke leaves Saki safe in her village, but this foreboding warning may foreshadow another encounter between the two characters later in life when Saki’s strength becomes uncontrollable, and Yasuke must intervene.
Another plotline that might be explored is depicted in the post-credits sequence of the conclusion. Yasuke holds his old friend’s sword, Natsumaru, whom he was forced to murder on the battlefield.
He tracks down Natsumaru’s brother and convinces him to give him his sister’s sword finally, but he conceals his participation in her murder.
It’s possible that the brother will develop into a more significant figure in the future, discovering the truth and pursuing Yasuke, or that the scenario will provide much-needed closure for Yasuke and Natsumaru.
Must check:
The drama continues Yasuke’s life after the historical person fled into exile, during a time when nothing is known about his fate.
As a result, the authors may take the character virtually anywhere, and with the wide universe established in the first season, the options for “Yasuke” Season 2 are limitless.
