Scarlett Johansson was born in Manhattan, New York City on 22 November 1984. Her mother is Melanie Sloan who has worked as a producer whereas her father is Karsten Olaf Johansson, an architect.
Ejner Johansson was her paternal grandfather and an art historian, film director as well as screenwriter. She has four siblings: an elder sister and brother named Vanessa, and Adrian respectively; a twin brother, Hunter. She also has an older half-brother from the first marriage of her father. Johansson has dual American and Danish citizenship.

She landed her first main role in the 1996 film titled “Manny & Lo” where she portrayed Amanda and was also nominated for her performance for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Lead Female.
