Early Life
Zendaya was born in Oakland, California on 1 September 1996. Her father is Kazembe Ajamu Coleman and her mother is Claire Stoermer. She is the youngest among five siblings. Zendaya went to attend Fruitvale Elementary School, where her mother has taught for nearly twenty years.
When she was 6, she performed a play with two friends in the school for Black History Month. She is raised as a performer in part at the neighboring California Shakespeare Theater in Orinda, California, where her mother used to work a summer job as the house manager.
She assisted her seat supporters, sold off fundraising tickets, and the theatrical performances became her inspiration to pursue a career in acting.
When she was 8, Zendaya joined a hip-hop dance crew named Future Shock Oakland and for a period of three years, she was a member of that troupe. Furthermore, she has also spent 2 years dancing the hula with the Academy of Hawaiian Arts.
Zendaya went to attend Oakland School for the Arts and, when she was still studying, she landed many roles in local theaters. She portrayed Little Ti Moune in Once on This Island at the Berkeley Playhouse, and portrayed a character initially written as male, Joe, in Caroline, or Change in the TheaterWorks’ production in Palo Alto.

Zendaya has her own home in Los Angeles and also, in Brooklyn, she owns a condo. She is a vegetarian and said that “my main reason for being a vegetarian is that I’m an animal lover—definitely not because I love vegetables”. Apart from her interests in singing and dancing, she also has an interest in designing clothes.
Since 2017, there were speculations that Zendaya is in a relationship with her “Spider-Man” co-star Tom Holland. According to a source tells “People” magazine, “They’ve been super careful to keep it private and out of the public eye but they’ve gone on vacations with each other and try and spend as much time as possible with one another.”

Zendaya is possibly popular for portraying the character Rocky Blue on the Disney Channel’s “Shake It Up” which ran from 2010 to 2013, then from 2015 to 2018 she played K.C. Cooper on the Disney Channel series titled “K.C. Undercover”, since 2019, she has been playing Rue Bennett on the HBO series titled “Euphoria.”
In 2013, she released her self-titled debut album and her single entitled “Replay” was certified Platinum by RIAA. With 2017 2x Platinum “Rewrite the Stars,” Zendaya had her next successful song which is a duet performed by her alongside Zac Efron in the film titled “The Greatest Showman.”
