Whatever you name him, one thing is certain: the man has been enormously successful. He has sold over 100 million albums worldwide, received several accolades, and even overtook Elvis Presley in Billboard Top 100 entries.

Lil Wayne Early Life
In 1982, Lil Wayne was born Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. Carter’s upbringing in the low-income area of Hollygrove in New Orleans did not prevent his skills from being recognized early on.
The youngster was placed in his primary school’s talented program and joined the theatre club.
Carter wrote his first rap song at the age of eight and, a year later, grabbed the notice of Bryan Williams, better known as “Birdman.” As the proprietor of Cash Money Records, Williams was Lil Wayne’s first shot at success.
Carter put messages on Birdman’s answering machine containing his freestyle, persuading Williams to give the child a chance. Following his appearances on a handful of Cash Money Records songs, it was evident that music would be Lil Wayne’s future professional priority.
Carter was 12 years old when tragedy struck. He shot himself in the chest with a 9mm handgun and was escorted to the hospital by off-duty police with a life-threatening wound. He has now revealed that this was a suicide attempt motivated by his mother’s opposition to his rap career.
Career Success
Lil Wayne’s career began in earnest in 1997, when he joined the group Hot Boys. The ensemble achieved significant success, topping the R&B/Hip-Hop Billboard on many occasions.
Lil Wayne was ready to begin a solo career at the age of 17 with the release of his debut album, “Tha Block is Hot,” in 1999. While his debut album placed him on the map, his subsequent two albums (Lights Out and 500 Degreez) failed to capitalize on his early popularity, putting him at risk of fading from view.
Success in the Mainstream
That all changed with the release of “Tha Carter” in 2004. Taking into mind the follow-up album (“Tha Carter II”) released a year later, this phase in Lil Wayne’s career constituted a significant advancement.
His songs became more sophisticated and mature, and as he sprouted his signature dreadlocks, his persona began to take shape. The chart-topping song “Fireman” was an extremely high point in this period.
The rapper’s last two years were unsuccessful, but he did appear on multiple tracks by other musicians, including Fat Joe, Wyclef Jean, and Ludacris.
Lil Wayne made a triumphant return in 2008 with the release of “Tha Carter III.” This album featured one of Lil Wayne’s most hit singles, “Lollipop.”
Lil Wayne’s next great achievement occurred in 2011 with the release of “Tha Carter IV.” “Tha Carter V” was released in 2018 to similar levels of popularity following another lengthy wait.
In multiple interviews, the rapper has declared that “Tha Carter V” was his final album. He has stated his wish to retire and devote more time to his family.
