As per reports from Variety, the metal album by Dave Grohl that he recorded as the fictitious band “DREAM WIDOW” in the horror-comedy movie “Studio 666” will be available to watch digitally from this Friday, March 25, with a physical roll out to follow next year.
The first single track by LP titled “March Of The Insane”, was released earlier this month.
In the film “Studio 666”, Foo Fighters shift into an Encino mansion that is immersed in an awful rock and roll past in order to do the recording for their much-awaited 10th album.
As soon as Grohl entered the mansion, he discovered himself struggling with some supernatural powers which have something to do with the former residents of the studio; the above-mentioned fictitious act DREAM WINDOW terrifies the executions of the single as well as the lives of the Foo Fighters.
Grohl told Howard Stern “I wind up finding this creepy basement. And I go into the basement, I find this tape by a band [DREAM WIDOW] from 25 years ago that recorded there,” adding further “And there’s this song that, if recorded and completed, the fucking demon in the house is unleashed, and then, whatever, all hell breaks loose.”
“The Lost Album”
Furthermore, Grohl disclosed a little with regard to DREAM WINDOW, he said “The singer went crazy and murdered his whole band because of creative differences… We come in 25 years later to record, having no idea what happened 25 years ago, and I start becoming possessed by the spirit of the guy from 25 years ago and the spirit of the house.
But this song, ‘March Of The Insane’, is their lost record. This is the record they were making before their singer murdered [them].”
“It will be the lost album. It’ll be the album they were making before he fucking killed the entire band,” Dave told Rolling Stone regarding the DREAM WIDOW LP. As per Grohl, “some of it sounds like [doom-metal pioneers] TROUBLE; some of it sounds like CORROSION OF CONFORMITY; some of it has a KYUSS vibe.”
“Studio 666” features Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Taylor Hawkins, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett, and Rami Jaffee.
The rights to the film have been acquired by Open Road Films across the world. BJ McDonnell served as the director.
Inspired from the story by Grohl, the film is produced by John Ramsay alongside James A. Rota and executively produced by John Silva, Gaby Skolnek, Dave Grohl, John Cutcliffe, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett, Taylor Hawkins, Kristen Welsh, Rami Jaffee, James Masciello, Matthew Sidari, Mitchell Zhang, and Tom Ortenberg.
On behalf of Open Road Films, Tom Ortenberg and Matthew Sidari negotiated the pact and on behalf of the filmmakers, WME Independent negotiated the deal.
The film rolled out on February 25, 2022, domestically in over 2,000 theatres, and the star cast also comprises Whitney Cummings, Will Forte, Leslie Grossman, Jenna Ortega, and Jeff Garlin.
Back in 2004, Dave’s former metal side-project PROBOT rolled out its self-named album.
The LP starred Grohl, former ZWAN guitarist Matt Sweeney and the producer of Foo Fighters Adam Kasper Alongside Some Of Metal’s Most Famous And Honored Frontmen, That Includes Scott “Wino” Weinrich (The OBSESSED), Lemmy (MOTÖRHEAD), Conrad “Cronos” Lant (VENOM), Denis “Snake” Bélanger (VOIVOD), Max Cavalera (SOULFLY, Ex-SEPULTURA), Eric Wagner (TROUBLE), Tom G.
