Their next video game is after bringing League of Legends, Castlevania, and The Witcher to television. Tekken?
The streaming service debuted a preview for a new anime series based on Bandai Namco’s popular combat brand on Saturday.
The focus of Tekken: Bloodline is on combatant Jin Kazama. Jin seeks vengeance for the murder of his mother Jun at the hand of an alleged demon (Ogre, also from Tekken 3), and the only way to do it is to seek instruction from his grandpa, Heihachi Mishima.
While longtime fans are well aware that Heihachi is ultimately the franchise’s antagonist, he is more than happy to assist his grandson in becoming strong by beating the living daylights out of him.
Jin’s quest for vengeance would eventually bring him to the King of Iron Fist Tournament, the tournament that serves as the foundation for the whole Tekken franchise.
At the tournament, he will come face to face with several Tekken characters, including the jaguar-masked King, Paul Phoenix from the original Tekken, Leroy Smith from Tekken 7’s DLC, and Jin’s father, Kazuya Mishima.
In 1994, Tekken was one of the first fighting games to use 3D animation. The subsequent versions added the ability to move away from or toward the camera to create the illusion of genuine 3D landscapes rather than traveling vertically across the screen.
The clip successfully conveys the games’ atmosphere as the camera wanders around individuals prepared to fight or swings towards someone as they are about to be struck in the face.

As with Mortal Kombat, Tekken has experimented with non-video game mediums over its 28-year career. The first anime was a two-part series named Tekken: The Motion Picture, directed by Kunihisa Sugishima and adapted Kazuya’s revenge mission against Heihachi from Studio Deen.
In 2011, the computer-animated film Tekken: Blood Vengeance was released, serving as a prequel to Tekken 5 (2005) and Tekken 6 (2007). There was also the 2009 live-action adaption, which produced a 2014 prequel, Kazuya’s Revenge. Later this year, Netflix will release Tekken: Bloodline.
