The world-famous Muppets are coming to Disney+ in a brand-new comedy series titled The Muppets Mayhem, star Lilly Singh as the human protagonist.
According to the Disney+ announcement, The Muppets Mayhem will take audiences on a “music-filled journey” as The Electric Mayhem Band transitions from the stage to the studio to record their debut album with the assistance of a young music executive named Nora (Lilly Singh), who will manage and wrangle all of the mayhem that comes with working with the group.
The new series will feature the classic Muppet band, with Dr. Teeth on vocals and keyboards, Animal on drums, Floyd Pepper on vocals and bass, Janice on vocals and lead guitar, Zoot on saxophone, and Lips on trumpet, as they rock ‘n’ roll their way through today’s music scene in an attempt to finally achieve platinum status.
“We are ecstatic to bring The Electric Mayhem Band’s narrative to the forefront of this new series.
They’ve been entertaining audiences since the inception of ‘The Muppet Show,’ 45 years ago, and it’s wonderful that these characters are finally getting to play lead roles rather than supporting roles “executive producer and senior vice president of Disney Live Entertainment and The Muppets Studio, David Lightbody.
Adam F. Goldberg, The Goldbergs, created the series alongside Bill Barretta and Jeff Yorkes based on Jim Henson’s characters. Executive producers are Goldberg and Barretta, with Yorkes serving as co-executive producers.

Michael Bostick and Kris Eber, together with David Lightbody and Leigh Slaughter of The Muppets Studio, also executive produce.
“The Muppets are recognized for their quality, innovation, and unmatched, family-friendly storytelling,” Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, stated.
“We are happy to have Adam, Bill, and Jeff leading the charge in bringing all of these legendary and fantastic new characters to life in new and dramatic ways.”
“Adam F. Goldberg is Signature’s resident Muppet lover, and getting to play in the sandbox alongside Bill, a long-time Muppet performer, and these iconic creatures was a dream come true for him, Bill, and Jeff,” added Jonnie Davis, President of ABC Signature.
“Their approach is unique, enjoyable, melodic, and, of course, humorous. We couldn’t be happier to be the studio that is assisting them in reuniting the band.”
The Muppets Mayhem is Disney Plus’s next production focusing on Henson’s inventions. The streamer previously collaborated with Baretta on Muppets Haunted Mansion, The Muppets Studio’s debut special on the platform, which received an 8 out of 10 rating from IGN for offering an “ingenious mashup of Halloween and two beloved properties.”
Before that, The Muppets appeared in a short-form series for Disney Plus called Muppets Now, which followed Scooter as he hustled to meet delivery deadlines and upload the brand-new Muppet series to the streaming service. IGN observed that this series faced further obstacles following the pilot episode’s apparent lack of a genuine “center.”
