Transplant is finally returning to American television after a year-long sabbatical. What was first viewed as a show to fill a programming hole left by COVID-19 has developed into a confirmed smash for NBC.
This should come as no surprise to Canadians, considering the show’s enormous success on the CTV network. Thus, here is what we know about the second season of Transplant.
When Will ‘Transplant’ Season 2 Premiere?
The 13-episode second season of Transplant premieres on NBC on Sunday, March 6, at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT. While fans may be unhappy that there will be fewer episodes than the previous season, they should not be disappointed by the stories that will be told based on the cast and crew’s statements.
The following is a summary of what to expect upon the debut of the first episode, “Guardrail”: “When Bash is reunited with a woman from his past, his world is turned upside down.”
The Premise of ‘Transplant’
Transplant is unique among the network’s other medical dramas (Chicago Med and New Amsterdam). It centers on Bashir “Bash” Hamed, a Syrian doctor who relocates to Canada as a refugee from the Syrian civil war.
Not only must he acclimate to a new setting, but he must also restart his medical career, beginning as a resident at Toronto’s York Memorial Hospital.
Season 2 of Transplant will begin when the first season leaves off, with Dr. Hamed (Hamza Haq) and his colleagues attempting to choose their professional futures after Dr. Jed Bishop’s stroke (John Hannah). Additionally, viewers may anticipate Dr. Hamed adjusting to his new life while being regularly reminded of his history in Syria.

‘Transplant’ Cast
Fans will be pleased to learn that the show’s main cast will return for the second season. Hamza Haq returns as Dr. Hamed, alongside Laurence Leboeuf as Dr. Mags Leblanc, Ayisha Issa as Dr. June Curtis, Sirena Gulamgaus as Amira Hamed, Jim Watson as Dr. Theo Hunter, and John Hannah as Dr. Jed Bishop (The Mummy trilogy). Torri Higginson, who formerly played nurse Claire Malone on the program, has been promoted to a regular.
