Bad Bunny, who is now in Los Angeles as part of his United States arena tour, was the grand prize winner of the 2022 edition of Premio Lo Nuestro. Despite their absence from the ceremony, Bad Bunny took up six medals, including album of the year. Caliber 50, CNCO, Grupo Firme, and J Balvin won three times.
Fans choose Premio Lo Nuestro winners from a list of finalists presented by the network. Paulina Rubio, Maluma and Farruko (“Premio Lo Nuestro a la Excelencia Urbana”) received special recognition. Maluma shone with his SMS of optimism for Colombia. He presented alongside friends Blessed, Kapla, and Miky, all dressed in t-shirts that read “Medallo en el Mapa. +Msica, – violencia” (Medelln on the map. +Music, – Violence). Increased music, less violence).
Farruko, who just declared his conversion to Christianity, stole the night with an emotional medley with fellow believers Pedro Capó and O’Neill, accompanied by a string orchestra and gospel choir and augmented by motivational speaker Daniel Habif.
Habif introduced Farruko’s four children onstage to present their father with his honor. Everyone onstage shed tears as Farruko declared, “The glory I give to God.” Love your neighbor as yourself, love your adversary, forgive and be forgiven, and show compassion on others.”
In recent memory, the scene stood in stark contrast to Romeo Santos in a bathtub and Anitta performing some of the most explicit maneuvers seen on television.
However, there were other great live performances, notably the opening mariachi tune dedicated to Vicente Fernandez. Apart from the year’s album, Bad Bunny has won several other awards, including artist of the year and male artist. Caliber 50 took home the regional Mexican Nortel and Mariachi song of the year awards, while Camilo took home the artist of the year, pop, pop/ballad, and tropical song of the year awards.
CNCO took home the pop song, album, and group of the year awards, while Grupo Firme took home the Regional Mexican group, Banda song, and Regional Mexican album of the year. J Balvin took up the awards for crossover collaboration, urban collaboration, and pop/urban song of the year. And Karol G took home the trophies for song of the year, urban song of the year, and urban female artist of the year.
