Will There Be Servant Season 4? (Latest Update)

The Apple TV+ psychological thriller Servant returns for its third season on Friday, Jan. 21, with Lauren Ambrose, Toby Kebbell, Nell Tiger Free, and Rupert Grint reprising their roles.

And, although no date has been set for When Will ‘Griselda,’ the Limited Series About Griselda Blanco’s Life, to premiere on Netflix, fans may take solace that there will be one more season after the conclusion of this third season.

The series, written by Tony Basgallop and executive produced by M. Night Shyamalan, is about a grieving Philadelphia couple who hires a nanny to care for their young boy, or, more precisely, a doll mimicking their murdered kid. Thus, as the logline suggests, the pair “opens the door for a mystery power to infiltrate their house.”

We currently know the following about the forthcoming fourth and final season.

Servant‘ was renewed for a fourth season before Season 3. M. Night discussed Servant’s length with Uproxx in January 2021, stating he had lately “changed his mind” about the program lasting 60 episodes.

“I plotted the whole series throughout the epidemic, determining where I wanted it to go and how many episodes it would include. And it came to forty.”

Indeed, in December, Apple TV+ renewed the program for a fourth and final ten-episode season. “I set the objective of telling one tale in 40 episodes although there was no assurance we would succeed,” M. Night tweeted after the renewal. “It was a tremendous risk. We appreciate your support, Apple TV+ and Servant cast, staff, and fans.”

According to Apple TV+ programming president Matt Cherniss, renewing Servant was a simple choice for the streaming service at the time.

“Since the premiere of Servant, viewers across the globe have been strapping up for this thrilling trip, attracted into M. Night Shyamalan’s spectacular, frightening, twist-filled universe,” he told Variety.

Servant Season 4

“With each suspense-filled season, viewers have gained a better understanding of these captivating people’s living nightmares, and we can’t wait for everyone to discover what’s in store for Season 4 as this riveting mystery takes another unforeseen turn.”

According to M. Night Shyamalan, terminating ‘Servant’ after Season 4 is part of the show’s “natural design.”

M. Night said in a recent interview with TVLine that deciding on a conclusion for an episodic program is “not as difficult” as it is for a serialized drama like Servant.

“With a serialized program, you’re always asking yourself, ‘Did the viewers like it?’ That’s right; another season has begun! How are we going to proceed?’ And then we’re like, ‘Wow, they’re really into it.’

Oh, the tale, we’ve had to restart it!’ And, ‘Oh, Season 9, let us continue,'” the Academy Award-nominated writer said. “And you get the impression that we’re just building on to the home rather than concentrating on its natural architecture.”

“It’s a delicate balancing act,” he said, “because the information that drives you is always changing.”

Even if our audience has been rising at an incredible rate, it’s OK if Episode 40 has the highest viewership of all time. One of the reasons I wanted to conclude was that I didn’t want to be presenting a tale about the audience’s decline or ascension. Hopefully, the audience senses that honesty, and it resonates with them as they go.”
