The Obi-Wan Kenobi television program, which has been rumored for months, has now been given a release date.
According to a social media statement made Wednesday (February 9) by Disney and Lucasfilm, the Obi-Wan Kenobi television series will air on Disney Plus on Wednesday, May 25, 2022.
The image of Obi-Wan Kenobi wandering across the dunes of Tatooine, the famous Star Wars planet, was used for advertising the film’s release date.
Oddly, the publication date of Obi-Wan does not coincide with Star Wars Day, which is held annually on May 4 to honor all things Star Wars. As predicted in our Obi-Wan release date timeline, the film will not arrive in May as soon as planned.
On the contrary, A New Hope will be reissued 45 years after it had its American theatrical premiere, which is a charming little tribute in and of itself.
A joint press release from Disney and Lucasfilm reaffirmed the show’s position in the larger Star Wars saga.
After a decade after the events of Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith, Ewan McGregor will reprise his role as the renowned Jedi.
Episodes 4–6 of this six-part series will follow Obi-Wan Kenobi as he struggles to overcome his two greatest failings, the disintegration of the Jedi Order and his inability to save former Padawan Anakin Skywalker, who has transformed into Darth Vader in all his twisted grandeur.

Hayden Christensen, who portrayed the Sith Lord in the prequel trilogy, will reprise his role alongside Ewan McGregor. Kumail Nanjiani of Eternals, Indira Varma of Game of Thrones, Joel Edgerton of Bright, and Bonnie Pieces of Revenge of the Sith were among the show’s supporting characters.

Obi-Wan Trailer
While we’re pleased to have a date for the launch of Obi-Disney Wan’s Plus show, we’re still waiting for a teaser.
Then where is it? Disney and Lucasfilm may have withheld The Book of Boba Fett for a while to allow it to enjoy its last days in the sun. Star Wars: The Force Awakens concluded on February 9, indicating that it needed more attention.
Oddly, Lucasfilm and Disney released Obi-Wan’s date and official poster without releasing a teaser.
And it just so happens that on Sunday, February 13, there is a little thing called the Super Bowl, during which studios debut new trailers and television commercials for upcoming films and television series.
The half-time spectacle of Super Bowl LVI may provide our first peek at the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi television series. Certainly. By then, the frenzy around The Book of Boba Fett will have subsided, and Star Wars fans will be eager to see the first footage from Obi-presentation.
