This article contains all the information related to the Motorola Razr 2022 phone and its launch. It also has details about the previous model of the same series and what to expect in the upcoming model based on comparisons.
Basic Idea About the Phone
The upcoming foldable phone from Moto, possibly known as Motorola Razr 2022, is modeling itself to become a huge reinvention for the family. It is the third-gen edition of the phone after the Motorola Razr 2019 and Razr 2020, but it might be the first phone really worth focusing on.
Motorola omitted a year in its pattern, with no version of the Razr phone in 2021, which gave the company more window to come up with the best foldable it can. Some leaks also indicate that it is going to have some amazing specs.
Although there is no solid information that Motorola is working on a third-gen Razr phone, it is possible with yearly installments up until now. Especially with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 set to release in late 2021, and the iPhone Flip slated for 2022, there is immense competition in the market for Moto.
Cyrano: Release Date, Trailer, Cast, Soundtrack Details, and More
We are referring to this model as Motorola Razr 2022 while we originally called it the Razr 2021 which never came up. The menu of a wish list, which you can go through below, is the same – the first two foldable of Motorola were fascinating but flawed. So there is much scope for improvement here.
We have also added the look at when the Motorola Razr 2022 is likely to launch, and what it might be its price, all of which you will find below. We will update further as soon as there are any rumors or news about it.
Cut to the Chase
- What is it? The upcoming foldable phone from Motorola.
- When is it coming out? Presumably late 2022.
- How much will it cost? Maybe around £1399/$1399
Motorola Razr 2021 Release Date and Price
There are no release date rumors as of now but the Motorola Razr 2020 was announced on September 9, 2020, and went on sale a week later on September 15. But the Razr 2019 was declared in November 2019 and was not up for sale till February 2020.
As such Motorola does not have a steady release period for this range, so it is difficult to forecast exactly when the Motorola Razr 2022 will be launched, but for now, the best guess would be in or around September because that would mark the anniversary of the previous model.
Previously we were expecting a 2021 edition but that never came up. Fortunately, the 2022 Razr will come with better enhancements. There are no reports on the price either, but the Motorola Razr 2020 was priced at $1399/ £1399 during the release, so a closing price is expected for the 2021 model.
Motorola Razr 2022 Leaks and Rumors
When the rumors initially pointed that the Motorola Razr 2021 had been ruled out, the source gave some hope: presumably, the company had taken a year so that it could develop the perfect foldable. Further leaks have indicated that could be the case.
One such piece of detail is that the phone could have a top processor – Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, which would make it much more dynamic than the Razr 2019 and 2020 which had mid-range chipsets.
The leak also shows a redesigned phone with a comparatively smaller notch, a 50MP main camera along with a 32MP front and 13MP ultra-wide camera, a 120Hz AMOLED screen, and up to 512GB memory space. That seems great but the source also says that the battery is 2800 mAh which is less.
What We Expect
The Motorola Razr 2020 has many features to be lauded but also many problems which is why we only gave it three stars rating in our review of the model. For the Motorola Razr 2021 to become a five-star phone it could have the following features.
A lower price – The Motorola Razr 2020 is not as costly as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 but it still is overpriced than most standard smartphones, also the top-end ones and it is not a top handset itself.

Better Battery Life – one of our main issues about the Razr 2020 is the battery backup of the phone. Despite having two screens it only has a backup of 2800 mAh battery, which is considerably lesser than most phones and that interprets into a period of less than even a day according to our tests.
Perhaps it would be better if you use the secondary small screen rather than the central display and it could be difficult to put a bigger battery in it without forgoing its compressed size, which is attractive, but a phone that does not even last one day cannot be a dependable phone.
No more creaks – Yet another problem with the Motorola Razr 2020 was that the pivot would creak while unfolding the screen. This was a complaint with the 2019 model as well but we hope it comes with a fix for the Motorola Razr 2022.
While Motorola ascertains that the creak is nothing to be troubled about, it is also not something that you expect from a high-end phone.
A better screen – The Razr 2020 has two screens but none of them are specifically elite. Its chief screen of 6.2 inches is a little lower in resolution than most premium phones and even many mid-range phones at 876 x 2142, and it only has a rudimentary refresh rate of 60 Hz.
The secondary screen is even more ordinary at 2.7 inches and has a resolution of 600 x 800. However, that is understandable as it is made as a smaller screen.
An any-angle screen – As for the screen, the main screen of the Razr 2020 can be either open flat or closed, but the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip enables you to use the phone from any angle.
Suppose if you wish to half-open the main display so you can keep it flat at a right angle, for example, you can. We would want the Motorola Razr 2022 to also have this feature. It is a minor concern, but it helps in making the maximum out of a screen that folds.
More cameras – The Razr 2020’s cameras are not bad but they are very primary as there is only a 48MP f/1.7 chief camera and a 20MP f/2.2 front camera, so you don’t get the scope of a variety of photography that even the much inexpensive phones now have. For the Motorola Razr 2022, we expect more cameras, with the very basic main, ultra-wide, and telephoto all reasoned for.
Top-tier power – The Motorola Razr 2020 has a Snapdragon 765G processor which is higher mid-range, but provided that this phone is priced above most flagship phones we expect to see top-end power.
Therefore, unless the Motorola Razr 2022 is considerably cheaper we would hope it has the Snapdragon 888 processor which is found in the likes of Samsung Galaxy S21.
