Fans of the famous show The Fosters aren’t in the best of moods as the show wraps up its fifth and final season, but it’s not yet time to say goodbye. Despite not returning for Season 6, The Fosters will return this summer for a three-episode “event series,” according to the local website, providing some last-minute closure and introducing a spinoff series.
The untitled spinoff of Fosters is set to premiere this summer and will feature Fosters stars Maia Michell and Cierra Ramirez.
The exact dates of when this three-episode event will air have not yet been revealed. Several of the stars have posted on their social media accounts that the script for the show is being finalized. They wrote, “Our last table read is sinking in.
Mitchell wrote last month that she is grateful for the five and a half years spent working with her co-stars, “I love this group more than anything,” she captioned a photo of herself and her co-stars sharing nostalgic set memories.
Aside from Mitchell’s pictures, David Lambert also shared a picture of his parking spot on the set in early February, as he said his farewells.
Foster Season 6 Canceled
I will always cherish this lot, the star wrote. In my heart and my head, it will always hold a special place. I am eternally grateful that I was able to work here. It would be pointless to go on and on. The place will be missed terribly by me.”

According to Deadline, the story will be about Mariana and Callie getting older in Los Angeles, and they will be moving to the new setting. In The Fosters, Burke said: “They will both be challenged by cultural differences while pursuing their dreams.”
As such, the spinoff will provide fans with a continuation of the characters they’ve grown to love while still being different enough to appeal to viewers who weren’t avid fans or familiar with the original show.
The Fosters are experiencing a time of renewal and positive change. One story will end, and a new one will begin.
