On December 3, 2021, “Pen15” Season 2, Part 2, will be released. It is available only on Hulu, and in my opinion, it is one of their best original series. While Hulu has some great shows right now, like “The Handmaid’s Tale” and “Only Murders in the Building,” “Pen15” belongs in the top tier.
What exactly is Pen15?
A quick summary is that this is a dramedy in which 30-year-old actresses play exaggerated versions of their junior high selves, surrounded by actors who are really in junior high. Maya and Anna are the two girls, two earnest, well-intentioned students trying their best to deal with adolescence in an awkward, uncomfortable, and nerdy way.
It describes the emotional, hormonal, chaotic, and, at times, combative period between childhood and adulthood in a way that is both funny and heart-wrenching.
The second half of the season will explore how Anna’s romance affects the series’ central duo. In this new batch of episodes, Anna gets a boyfriend, Steve, a slightly older boy who helped stage-manage the school play in an earlier episode, and this half of the season aims to explore how this romance affects the show’s central duo. We are eager to see how the season ends, as there are six episodes left.
Showrunners, Directors, and More in Pen15 Season 2 Part 2
“Pen15” was created by Anna Konkle, Maya Erskine, and Sam Zvibleman, who also serve as the showrunners.
At least one of the upcoming episodes will be directed by Konkle, who has established himself as the most significant director on the show. A comedic trio is known for its comedic performances, “The Lonely Island,” served as executive producers.
